MATTED to the SKIN! Sweet 16 year old dog gets a fresh start

What an adorable video. Poor baby! To be neglected like that is criminal. I have a Havapoo. He gets groomed every 2 weeks. He is not fond of brushing, so I do the best I can. I groom him myself because of the cost. I love how he followed the camera man. I hope he found a good owner.

I have 3 doodles that I have to groom myself, and I’ve been taking care of them myself for almost 3 years (I’m 14) and I am trying my best to now figure out how to get mats out since taking care of them all at once alone everyday got very overwhelming for me and I feel terrible. I will be doing this and I am so excited to see my puppies and their new haircuts even if I don’t get them as pretty as yours. Thank you!!!

As a groomer, why are you washing fur that's going to come off?

Hi Vanessa. How can you tell how long the nail quick is so that you optimize how short you can cut it without it bleeding?

That was AMAZING!! I had no idea what went on during a grooming. Our son and daughter-in-law have a long haired German Shepard, and the biggest problems for him are itching from allergies and needing brushing which doesn't happen often enough. I've seen him a couple of times after he's been to a groomer, and his fur is so soft along with smelling so good. He has bitten his legs raw from the itching and it breaks my heart that he is 99% of the time in a double cone to keep him from biting himself. They've spent so much money for allergy meds that they could give him shots for that was made specifically for him, but even that didn't help, neither did Diphenhydramine to go with it. Whenever we visit (600 miles away), I try to at least brush him, but he has mats also, especially on his butt and I have cried while seeing his quality of life. He's 11 now, has hip issues, and the softest brown eyes, softest tongue, and I love him dearly. We''ll be visiting in a few weeks, and I'm going to love him as much as I can while we help take care of the kids since our daughter-in-law will be giving birth.

All I can say is W O W

I have a Havenese and I brush her everyday. Not sure how you get this dog to sit still. The minute I get the brush out my dog lays down or shows her belly. She also gets very itching, we have avoided matting at least.

Please share what type of clippers you use in your videos for matted dogs. As a subscriber, I am on your list and was waiting on the matted dog video. I see the matted cat video, but not one for dogs. I would love some instructions for picking out dog clippers. There are too many choices for the uninformed. I enjoy watching your videos and I love learning from you. Thank you for your compassion.

Wet clipping is a brilliant idea, It was part of my training as a dog groomer. There are so many benefits as you've pointed out. Although we were always told to only use cordless clippers on a wet coat, not corded as water and electricity really don't mix 😅😅

I've had standard poodles for 25 years and absolutely love them. Now the grooming is becoming back breaking for me so my next dog will be short hair for sure.

It takes a while and desperation not to be bothered by taking your dog to a groomer. Go slow, take breaks, even potty breaks, hell, if you clean up what you have done you can start again the next day. It gets easier. Plus, my groomer stopped returning my calls, so I just do it myself. I Guess the fee and 10-dollar tip wasn't good enough. Great videos.
