That intro was PERFECTION

I can’t help but see the vehicle mode as having a really receded hairline 💀

Somebody please clip or animate that Intro

Just pose it in standing obari(heroic) standing pose and he would look great even with those wrist

This is the only Animated figure I ever got as a kid.

One thing you didn't mention is that the axe can become a BIGGER axe by combining it with the shield. Just a neat litle gimmick

I love this figure. It was my very first Transformer to ever own. I was like, what, 7 or 8 and I got him at Giant Tiger, when they actually sold Transformers. Sadly I lost the axe due to time

He probably does feel heavier in truck mode because he's more compact and he's fused with the accessories you don't always have connected in robot mode

Thank you so much for this video. Its rare to find one about this toy. This Optimus I had him since I think kindergarten or 1st grade. I loved him. It was so much fun. I loved the show. I also had the small Bulkhead and Starscream toy. Man. Great times. I dont know if I still have these toys. Id have to search. Maybe if youre interestet it would be cool to see the as for mentioned small Bulkhead and Starscream Animated toys next. Just a thought. But I would be very happy. Still as it is thank you so much for this video. This is already more than enough for me and brings me back to my childhood.

The inconsistent tightness in the shoulder joints was a common issue from that time, unfortunately. Many of the transformers I had as a kid (inc. the earth mode version of this one) had similar problems with their joints. Over time the plastic distorts just enough to make the ball or socket no longer perfectly spherical and so you end up with a joint that's tight enough in some angles but too loose at others.

your probably aren't gonna read this but as a fellow Canadian i found a needlnose,armada hotshot, the junkion guy from legacy eveloution and all tyhe core classes in a GameStop at Kanata so you could probably go there to find some stuff (i also found breakdown there)

Despite the flaws, this figure does a very intelligent thing: IT DOESN'T USE CLEAR PLASTIC FOR MAJOR JOINTS!! (glaring at Animated Swindle) Hasbro may have had a reputation for doing that during Animated's toyline, but how many Animated figures REALLY had clear plastic for major joints?? 🤔🤔🤔

Meanwhile, I prefer the Earth Mode Optimus. Something 'bout the Cybertronian Mode just seems off to me.

I still have my original animated prime and megatron that came in a double pack with a dvd of episode 1, Prime’s arms used to flail all over the place on their ball joints but the legs were always solid :-)

I had been thinking about something, in the original cartoon Megatron was a gun, so why has no continuity (to my knowledge) portrayed him as an anti aircraft gun or turret emplacement as an alt mode, it would harken back to the original form of being a gun, but also make it more realistic so mass shifting isn't a problem.

I had this for my entire childhood, complete the whole time, axe broke immediately when I went to take it out his hand like after all these years

Honestly this figure would have been better if it was Orion pax

i recommend using a bit of super glue or any joint tightener on the axe, i did and never falls now and is stil posable

I had this toy growing up. He’s missing all of his accessories now but he’s nice. Mine is also uncomfortably floppy but eh old toy that I didn’t take good care of as a kid

I remember this toy. Don’t know where it is now, but it’s a fun toy.

I have this figure but I'm missing the shaft to the axe. Honestly would pose it in robot form if it wasn't for that one missing piece :(

Thanks for the video! Just picked this up for a custom Animated Ironhide. I dig this taller stockier look vs. the Ironhide we got. I figure Dremel down the pointy ears, give it a solid red/gold/silver repaint, and upgrade the arm cannons a bit and you have a battle worthy Ironhide.

Giga prime

I found a used one at a comic store that had the legs jammed in. I guess the previous owner forgot to twist the legs before putting them in. I had to unscrew the legs to pull them out. The joints are also kind of loose.

I actually found one, while acquiring F.O.C. Grimlock parts and weapons. Got them and Optimus, and though he is incomplete, $5, and a completely different take on an Optimus Prime figure…

at least his shield actually looks like a shield! It's a good shape and size. It isn't just blatantly part of a vehicle that the designers were too lazy to do anything with. They thought through how to make a good shield for him.

This guy is cool, i got him for 5$ at a toy convention.

My figure is really really tight. I almost couldn't push his legs into position when transforming him so instead of using heat, I used cold water and now it's a little more workable.
