Don’t think this is a very good definition of “catchy” honestly. The Clocks riff is very catchy. Hear that song once, it’s in your head forever.
ОтветитьYears ago we did a little experiment in a office I was working in. Try find the catchiest tune ever. It was discovered that the Spock vs Kirk theme from Star Trek was the catchiest. Literally everyone there was singing it by the end of the day. It was unrelenting.
Ответитьit is all irrelevant in the long run, as it is all just a vibration you relate to or not. All the definitions you put forth could be viewed thru too many subjective variables to really quantify in any time or era.
Ответитьamazing video bro
ОтветитьHuh? I can sing the mexican hat dance 😏
ОтветитьI actually disagree with the singability part... i think large leaps tend to make for the catchiest melodies... john williams case in point
ОтветитьI'm pretty sure we still have no idea why music does what it does. Melodies relate to something something inside us, and we can't really put our finger on what is happening.
ОтветитьCan u plz do an analysis of the insanely unique Lemon Tree by Fools Garden beat/tune ?? Are there more songs like that? is it inspired from some other song?
Ответитьbecause radiohead has many songs with lyrics spaced out, but really cool music in the bg, i find myself singing the instruments instead of the lyrics a lot. best example for me is paranoid android. the long instrumental break is satisfying to sing even if it sounds goofy haha
ОтветитьOne more key aspect of singability is range: something that goes quite high or low is harder to sing. I think the standard is about 1-1.5 octaves, making the USA'S national anthem right on the cusp of singability 😂
ОтветитьThe way "O Mio Babbino Caro" was stuck in my head for a week straight
Ответить"Catchy melody supposed to be 1-3 notes every bar, 1 note much better" - Gen X
Ответитьтакая чушь уже где
ОтветитьLucid analysis. Good work.
ОтветитьThis is something
ОтветитьReally hate when a song will repeat the same line 8x, 9x im a row, usually happening near the end of the song
ОтветитьNot me dancing to Baby Shark 😭😭😭
ОтветитьNice melody at the end!
ОтветитьI assume someone's mentioned it by now, but in case not:
Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams made a song named "Yummy" that uses the same general melody as the "Clocks" piano for its chorus! Check it out if you haven't heard it (or with this in mind)!
I love you man!!! Greatest content!!!
Ответитьone other very important element is rhythm ... many great melodies are just 1-2 notes
ОтветитьCatchy melodies are designed for product sales.
Ответить2nd melody went off
ОтветитьLovely video, could listen to this topic / these topics for hours, also you are great in explaining.
ОтветитьI want to like and dislike this video at the same time, dang bro you just got mad songs stuck in my head lmaoooo, great video though mate
ОтветитьThe best melody video I've ever seen
ОтветитьThe second melody was just a new periphery song.
ОтветитьIt's a small world after all folks 🌎
ОтветитьThe intro for “Clocks” sounds more like it could be played in 8/8 time; 3+3+2 triple time.
ОтветитьI doubt you will see this but have you or would do a video on writing an anthemic pop song? Or what makes one? Like a I-V progression or the build up in a pre-chorus, etc.,?
ОтветитьThe song that never ends, you’re welcome 😂
Ответитьi like the track at the end LOL :D :P
Ответитьthis video is awesome!! thank you :D
ОтветитьSo interesting
ОтветитьPlease, can someone please tell me the name of the Mario song he used? I’ve been trying to find it for literally 14 years, and could just never find it
ОтветитьClocks opening riff i still sing it
ОтветитьHow dare you hit us with baby shark without a warning, god damn it! Lol
ОтветитьBrilliant
ОтветитьThose Beatle guys could sure write melodies. That’s my guide. 😎
ОтветитьTrue catchy music is like Take a Bow by Muse where you want that journey. Nude, All I Need, Hannah Hunt, Ruled By Secrecy. These are true songs where you don’t find them “catchy” but you’ll find the satisfaction way higher and ultimately find the Song catchy rather than a singular part.
Ответитьwhat's "chune" 💀?
ОтветитьI have no technical knowledge of music (though I have learned stuff from you). One thing I don't understand is why some songs just make you cry. They may not even lyrically be sad songs but the melody just extracts so much emotion. Some examples are "Memories" from Cats, "My own home" from Jungle Book, "I must go" from Fiddler on the Roof. Is there something they use to make that happen?
Ответить- What makes a melody catchy?
