To think she went through all that just for men to say hey I'm a woman now and take everything away again. As women stand there clapping. Obscene

Trust The Guardian to phrase the title of the video in such a way as to blame the horse and not the feminist campaigner

She walked out in front of the kings horse to bring attention to her cause (votes for women) in front of cameras and world media. Back then, women had no rights and were property of their husbands. A husband had the right to sell his children without her consent. It took two years after women got the vote to recognise a mothers right to her children in uk law. This lady was a marta that turned the tide in a hopless battle and gave it the attention needed for change.

People in the comments you are ruthless: emilie davison is one of the reason women got the suffrage in UK she actually make things progress. It can be consider dumb if she didn't intend to die but if it was a sacrifice it was well done and not dumb at all. People in the world actually saw her and assumed her cause. She became a martyr. Even if it was dumb she deserve more respect for her temerity and her sacrifice tha being called "dumb".

Did she get "lucky" with it being the King's horse? The speed & the changing of places make it difficult to identify the horse at short notice, i'd imagine!??

Emily went to Oxford university and has been with horses in the past…I believe this was no mistake she held her hands out to grab the rains of the horse because she wanted to make a scene to promote the suffragette campaign she was willing to take her life because she tried to do it in prison aswell!

While we may never know what her intended outcome of this specific protest was, she did fight for a very important cause and won in the end. The amount of people mocking her and the suffragette movement in this comment section baffles me. I hope that most of those people saying such things are either very young and think it's edgy or just trolls trying to get people angry.

Either way, this was a tragic event, but her cause lived on and her sisters won in the end.

How did I not know about Emily Davison though I knew of the heroism of Emmaline Pankhurst and so many others. Thank you for the video and information. My grandmother came to the U. S. in 1913 at the age of 9. She was married off at 16 and had 4 girls. From then on she worked to expand the world that her daughters might participate in. Neither she nor I, her 90-year-old granddaughter, could imagine that soon — we will have a woman President.
