This video is a reupload to fix some technical errors, I have set it so it should not go to your sub box or bother you with notifications, thanks for your understanding! Please see my recent community post for more details.
ОтветитьOne of the unfinished nazi-era metro tunnels has a small tunnel into hitlers old Fuhrerbunker.
ОтветитьIs it just me or does the Berlin U-Bahn system map almost look like the New York City Subway system map?
ОтветитьIs this satire
ОтветитьBerlin is SO GOOD.
ОтветитьLichterfelde Süd, as well as Teltow both have dual Tracks.
ОтветитьEin hoch auf die BVG. Weil wir dich lieben!😉
ОтветитьI definitely prefer Berlin trams to London buses :) Thanks for your videos though I cannot get over the broad American accent...
ОтветитьIn Berlin we call the new S Bahn models „Cyberpunk Bahn“
ОтветитьHi this is Lawrence I want to learn about Leipzig Germany!
ОтветитьYou forgot to mention the incredible amount of people talking to themselves you encounter on the U-Bahn
ОтветитьAre you planning a video about the Transit system in Hamburg anytime soon? Thanks for all the great content, frequent bingewatcher here 😊
ОтветитьWell idk if you're gonna read this but if so i got good news. Recently the entire network has plans to completely dubble the network with stuff like alot of new extension's, a new Ubahn and S-Bahn line and new rolling Stock for the Ubahn. It's enough to make a whole video about it so i hope you read this. I can giver more info about these plans via discord or via email.
ОтветитьGreat video!
Stayed in Berlin last autumn for 10 days and found the entire system very easy and convenient to use.
Ticket barrier free public transport is a feature pretty much across all German cities and regions, not just Berlin.
Respect for the almost correct pronunciation of the stop names =]
ОтветитьExcellente vidéo! A documentaire de haute qualité.
ОтветитьLondon overground explained when
ОтветитьIt looks like the Berlin U-bahn doesn't need much extra capacity, so I think they should build the Tegel extension and redevelop the old airport there and have a congestion charge to pay for a reduction in fares.
ОтветитьI spent two months in Berlin and fell in love with the system. I lived near the U8 Weinmeisterstrasse station also the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station. The Hackescher Markt station is an architectural delight (shown a couple of times in the video) and it's a miracle the East Germans didn't blow it up. I used the S-Bahn a lot more often because the East-West alignment goes to more places that are interesting to foreigners. I also had the chance to visit the Potsdamer Platz station while the new tunnel section was being built. There were giant concourses leading to new exits, with public art, and you could look down to the as yet unused platforms. I understand that the entrances to the Friedrichstrasse station that were in the middle of the street are no longer in use, which is sad because they were charming.
ОтветитьThe U5 now expands to go to Hauptbahnhof (which is much appreciated)
ОтветитьThis video is brilliant, thank you very much! One single issue: I would never use the words "redundancy" and "U9" in the same sentence, this line is one of the most heavily used and it has the most frequent service during rushhour. It is so important because it connects important districts to the centre of old West-Berlin, in contrast to U6 and U8. So many people from northern districts along the U6, U8 and the S Bahn use it to get into the area around the Zoo which has still a lot of significance to the city. Same with the southeastern suburbs along S1
ОтветитьI was stunned by your pronouncation of the plattforms connecting U-Bahn and S-Bahn...very very good!
ОтветитьCame back from Berlin a few weeks ago. I got off the U-bahn at Bernauer Straße to visit the Berlin Wall Memorial and found out that it is actually one of the ghost stations (stations that were closed during the city's division). There is history everywhere you go. Berlin is such a cool place to explore
Ответитьcould you explain the hamburg u bahn and s bahn network please it y hometown andi would appreciate it
Ответитьif only they are on time. but the amount of delays and cancellations is pretty high with the S and U Bahn. but that is typical germany at this point. trains never arrive on time XD or better rarely
ОтветитьAlso a fun fact: half of these stations are streets in the german monopoly
ОтветитьSums up Berlin. Functional but not beautiful.
ОтветитьI don't know why you spent time covering Berlin, the transport system of U Bahn and S Bahn are simply the worst compared to western and Asian cities. It is rightly underappreciated. The wheelchair accessibility is absolutely bullshit. No connection to local bus network.
Ответитьvery informative for me, even though I live in berlin, but I only drive car
ОтветитьIm from Berlin and I have no clue what the „Stadtbahn“ is supposed to mean lol
We just use the numbers..
and Moscow, and Xangai, and Madrid, and Beijing, and Barcelona, and ...
ОтветитьI have a BVG mug with the U Bahn network (London schematic style) on it I bought in the store at the Zoo station I found at random one day - it's in a random location down some underground hallway, not with other stores. I think it was only a few Euros. Still there along with a couple others but no online shopping.
ОтветитьEven as a native Berliner who was born here, its still pretty Interesting how the Transport Network is designed but also how other people who don't live here see the Network. Nice Video
Ответитьder Pilzkopf fehlt... Gesundbrunnen, Bornholmer, Schönhauser ! aber 👍👍👍
ОтветитьAnother interesting fact is that the U-Bahn, trams and busses are all operated by BVG (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe), while the S-Bahn is operated by Deutsche Bahn. As I understand it, BVG is only licensed to operate „light rail,“ and the U-Bahn qualifies as light rail. Deutsche Bahn is licensed to operate heavy rail, and the S-Bahn qualifies as heavy rail. However, tickets are accepted by both operators.
ОтветитьWeeps in Toronto
ОтветитьGawd Ostkreutz is so much better than it used to be 10 years ago. It was terrible.
ОтветитьThis was the first European city I ever visited and had no idea its transit system was this incredible. I credit Berlin for my love of transit now, and as a Los Angeles native, absolutely loathe cars.
Ответитьspectacular view when you enter Hauptbahnhof from the north over huge bridges
Ответитьi was in Berlin and i think that the conncetions/subways arent that great. at least not better than that of munich
ОтветитьThe most remarkable fun fact, shortly mentioned in the video: Some of the old East Berlin U-Bahns are running in North Korea... Grown up in East Berlin, I have been visiting Pyeongyang and using the trains I have probably already used years ago on the other sied of the world :D
ОтветитьI think you could have introduce the "differences" between Class 483/484 bit it is also fine that u didn't.
Also I think the rail system is not bigger than it needs to be. The VBB has some problems with the S-Bahn Berlin because of the crisis and I also don't understand why they wanted 3/4 S-Bahn trains on the ring system because at peak hours the Ringbahn is very full and 2 wagons more could solve this problem especially in the rush hours. I'm get up for work at 4 and I am often at 5 at Berlin Ostkreuz wich is at that time full of people waiting for the Ringbahn. But I am also proud of the system because I don't need a car.
Berlin's transit is amazing! I visited for a week pre-pandemic and really appreciated the s-bahn, u-bahn, and even the trams. It was all so easy and reliable.
ОтветитьDo one on Munich's U-bahn!
ОтветитьAs a local I can also give evryone open to read this comment some facts. The first one is that during Rush-Hour Ther are 4 car BR Class 481/82 train sets running in a 20 Minute schedule between Zelendorf and Potsdamer Platz to increase capacity. The second one is that there are Express services on the S3. And the third one is that the BR Class 481/82 train sets are being modernised with the same paint sheme and interior design as on the Class 483/484 sets. There are a lot more but i think three are good enough for now.
ОтветитьAnd in case you're wondering why there is no fourth interchange station called "Nordkreuz" (North Cross), that would be Gesundbrunnen station. In fact, the signs there bear the secondary name "Nordkreuz" in smaller font under the official name "Gesundbrunnen". When about 15 years ago they planned to rename the station (along with "Südkreuz" formerly known as "Papestraße"), local residents objected the move and eventually the historical name "Gesundbrunnen" ("Health Fountain") was kept.
