Life is suffering, even the detailed interactions with other living organisms, but if you have passion enough, it is worth tolerating that suffering and make it a 'passion' of the body and mind where you are willing to face the suffering and change it into 'reward'.

Instead of learning languages, I suggest people should just learn English, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum computers, Blockchain, Economics, bioweapons etc.
Dont' waste time on silly languages.

don’t learn a language unless you need it. there are millions of people in the world who are learning english but the vast majority of them don’t even need it. because learning a second language is a mean to a goal not a goal in itself. i don’t want to sound arrogant but i’m the only student in my class who was able to learn english and reach advanced levels. because i set a goal for myself from the beginning that this is what i’m going to do. i’m not saying i’m the most fluent student in the world but i could say that i’m waaay ahead of my classmates.

Why do you feel overwhelmed by the unknown? Why do you find your beliefs unlearnt? Very often you can add new beliefs without undoing old ones. Why do you find it shattering that another culture has just as beautiful art as yours? That their wars are no less relevant than ones in your own country? Were you really that arrogant and had such feelings of superiority before? Why is it so shocking that some cultures have similiar counterparts in others? We are all humans, with the same needs and common inclinations. With billions and billions of people, that leads to similiar results popping up. You didn't need to learn languages to find this out, you just needed to get out more.

Seems like this is rooted in personal problems that learning languages brought to the surface. But they weren't caused by learning languages itself.

Born with spanish language, learned english in my teens to a college level, basic german while stationed in W. Berlin 3 years (1980-1983) . There's a philosophy about a professor who took students to climb a high mountain as an essay for graduation late in the afternoon, When there were uphill 25% they began to see roads and buildings in the city and when they were half way up they saw the city clear and could identify buildings and roads. Up on top in the mountain they only saw lights because the city looked small. He told all students: Now you have a degree because you learned this: When you are at the bottom you see nothing and when you are half way you can see clearly and when you are at the top is the same as the bottom because you wont see anything so stay in the middle so you can see those at the bottom and those at the top. Don't study too much, don't try to be very knowledgeable... I hope you get it.

Pain is the mark of meaningful change. What you describe is painful, I believe, only because the ego clings far too hard to things it wants. Once we have learned – and oh boy is this painful – how to quiet the ego and accept the lessons that strip our ego to a bare, functional minimal, then the beautiful peace you describe between people and peoples is ours. Or rather, we become wise enough to allow that peace to reside within us, like an earned companion or accomplishment.

Learning non-English languages (I'm a native English-speaker) has given me membership in the ever-expanding family of God. The pain I have felt, and sometimes feel, in learning how much I didn't know is easily offset by the broadening reality that everyone, regardless of culture or language, has so much to teach me. I learn lessons in suffering, resilience, sorrow, and joy. I am grateful for experience with new ways of speaking and hearing. They open portals to the wisdom of the world.

This video's subject matter is profound. I only know a little Spanish beyond English, but sense I could anticipate being tied so much better to understanding of other cultures and not so self-centered to my own by learning other languages. I would still like to learn another language. I shall see for myself if I am able to prioritize it and find the time.

An interesting way to interpret languages. Perhaps we shouldn't just study a foreign language as a subject to score a test on the exam, but use languages to sharpen our mind. The sharpening process can be tedious and painful, but when a piece of raw metal becomes a fine needle, it will be almighty useful to produce many goods.

Hence this proves : Bhakti Yoga's (Devotion to God) superiority over jnana yoga (Knowledge of world)
Seeking Knowledge of the world is like when you are riding a cycle a dog starts chasing you. and you are trying to beat while at the same time try to balance the cycle. (being dependent on our own endeavors)
while Bhakti yoga is like being carried in a car and watching the fun of barking dog. (being protected by the Lord, in loving devotional service.)

awesome video. i think the pain you describe is more about needing to recreate your representation of the world and your role while engaging with more information and therefore learning. The newly gained knowledge might also make you question decitions you have done earlier in life wich can also be painful. Its a voulnerability you need to offer in order to gain new insight about you and the world

Hello, May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed."
God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?

Man realizes his whole life culture is bullshit because those cultures exist on every single part of the world. Same story, same religions, same moral compass, same brutality, same wars, same tales, same legends, with a little changes here and there due to the different language we uses which makes the actual truth lost between the translations.

Great wisdom and understanding brings hatred to where it's exposed as ignorance.
FOR example: here's a thought..
Even the most evil things people have done... have been done because either 1) the person was confused /delusional /brainwashed or 2) the person knew right from wrong but was too morally weak to choose the good.

In either case, i think we've ALL been there.
