IMHO there is no show that rivals Galactica.
The Expanse runs up close but does not beat it.

The opening moments after the Galactica jumps in, and the quick response of the defensive guns. . .always epic!

So much about this battle is the show coming full circle. (spoilers may be ahead, but hey, were all here for the nostalgia kick)
Cylons started this war by hacking Colony defenses, here the same is done to the Cylons.
Colonials were left with only older fighters and ships that didnt have networked computers yet, when the Cylons first attacked. Here its the Cylons who are forced to fight back with lobotomized raiders.
Cylons were greatly helped in their first attack by their human form models infiltrating the colonies. Here Colonials have friendly Centurions assisting in the assault.
Cylons started the war with the intent, and nearly succeeding, to wipe out humanity. Here humanity essentially wipes out any Cylons who didnt join them.
Baltar, even if he isnt shown here, gets redemption from his initial selfish nature to the point of committing treason and contributing to the near-extinction of humanity, by demonstrating his selfless-ness several times over, which probably saved humanity. Ironically he also later returns to his roots as a farmer, something he tried very hard to get away from all his life.

Its such an amazing way for the show to end.

the cylons should've put some of those canons from the colony on the basestars, then they could've act actually done some lasting damage to Galactica

I just wish the series hadn’t ended in a way that guaranteed most of the cast died in very undignified ways.

This series was so close to being perfect.

The colonial fleet could have taken out the cylon colony with ease if it wasnt for the virus. If one battlestar could keep up like that imagine an entire fleet

I like the zoom ins and out from the camera it makes it feel like your in a space battle. Lots of shows make everything feel to clean. This show kept it feeling real.

The Galactica survived all that is heckin wild

from the beginning of the series, never thought I'd see Human and Cylon working and fighting side-by-side.

Breaks my heart every time to see the Colony Ship fire it's turrets on the Old Girl. Just think about how many vipers and raptors the Galactica lost throughout the show. Makes ya wonder how many the Old Girl had left at the end.

I loved the dynamic of Centurions and Colonials breaching the colony. I also loved the fact that some of the centurions were carrying a heavier rifle because they'd be combatting armoured targets.

Truly the last great Sci fi television show produced.

So how many Earths will humanity frak up before something changes?

Even after so many fights the cylons never learned... you don't underestimate Bill Adama or the Battlestar Galactica.

Epic battle finale with a satisfying series ending! 🦾 I recently binged watched the whole series on Peacock, it was that weird relationship between Baltar and Six that brought me back, wanted to see how that was wrapped up, wasn't sure I saw the ending when I first started watching this when I had the SciFi channel... Speaking of which, WTH happened to the SyFy channel, why isn't this show AND Caprica in their streaming app ?? They PAID for production AFAIK, pretty sad they couldn't even keep it for the long run...

I no count, how much exactly, how many raptors, jumped from galactica, of left wing, launching dock. They showed us less than there was in that dock.
4 these raptors flew, later, in other scenes, with 3d and CGI, they added the fifth one. All together as attack on the main mother ship base, to Cylon's ship. 4 more, as the human deck of army units, fighting against the Cylon "soldiers" that the machines. there is a matter of the rest, a few, not shown to us, the viewers, about raters, where the film did not mention or show what happened to them, where they flew. what did they do.

I wonder how the troops are supposed to be able to tell which Centurions are on which side. I don't know if they are wearing some kind of markings as "uniforms" but from a distance or in a dark passageway they look identical.

I don't care whatever else you might say about this series or it's writing towards the end. The Galactica was a hell of a ship that gave everything she had over the series.

I love the high stakes every encounter carried. Humanity's last ship, last defense, straight into the fire.

So cool to see Centurions fighting side by side with humans. 👍

The biggest conceit of sci-fi space battles is that there are ANY ships that would survive an assault by weapons of a civilization that advanced. We already have prototype rail guns that would likely punch through Galactica's armor no matter how thick it is. I can't imagine what a society like the Cylons could throw at them at point blank range. They would NOT survive.

Ramming speed taken to a whole new level

What i find best about this assoult, are the centurions. since they've been given free will and a choice all of them are volunteers. And to the contrary to the humans and humanoidcylons they actually have no stakes in this rescue mission. The former 2 need hera for their specieal survival... sort of, but the centurions don't need her for any logical reason. Which means there is a high likelyhood of them doing it out of kindness or some sense of comeradeship with the rest of the fleet which makes them uniquely... human.

When you realize the series begins with a Cylon attack on 12 human colonies, and ends with a human attack on a Cylon colony. And each colony represents a deity.

I wonder what were the instructions for the extras, after Galactica smashed through the wall.
Director: Okay guys,i want you to shout as loud as possible, all at once so nobody can understand each other. Ok?

The CGI and combat scenes for this show are insane for it's time period, Yea alot looks dated now, but also a lot still looks solid

When the colony guns first go silent, the tips briefly glow red, as they should do given they've been firing continuously. Wonderful realism, and great that someone thought of it when they made the episode.

Galactica really has gone through HELL and back

I personally found BSG depressing to watch and didn't enjoy that much. But you can't deny that the show was well made. Excellent acting, great music, and action sequences that are only surpassed by Babylon 5 and The Expanse.

Why didn’t the Cylons just nuke Galactica and get it over with?

I love it when the bag pipes play when the raiders launch, god what an awesome show.

That heavy armor plating

poor fucking racetrack, she made it all the way to the end and catches a face full of space rock. I felt that when they killed her off, remember when shows made you care what happens to characters

Racetrack was probably one of my favourites, but I suspect a few cheered seeing her dead after the minute. Also if it wasn’t for her and Skulls they wouldn’t have destroyed the cyclons here

All that battering and major fire, and the old girl still held like a champ. Even after everything that happened until then. Talk about a beast of a ship.

Let it be known and remembered that the hull is made of bio-organic synthesize metal which came from the first Cylon war, who knows how many humans were used to make one basestar
