Making a RAILGUN and then TESTING it!

Hey guys-- if you build a controller with optical interruptor and give it half the capacitors when it's fired and the other half once it passes about 25 percent of the barrel length, it'll shoot it faster.
You will have to have a pretty good fast high-current switch, but you can use an SCR. What happens otherwise is that you run out of current before the projectile leaves the barrel.

did you measure what velocities it got up to?

Make full contact to the copper rails. The rear pusher should be a metal piece into a molded sabot holding your projectile. Ends of the U should make electrical contact; it is OK to get it moving with compressed air or a small powder charge. Non electrolytic capacitors should be used. If you are using electrolytic csps, charge in series strings to deliver a quicker high current pulse.

Your bullets are weak. Have you considered magnetically shifting their polarity? They’re also asymmetrical.
More aerodynamics + magnetically correct bullet = bullet that will kill

before my life ends i am certain a railgun is meant to put things into space, nasa said the space shuttle went 100 miles in 8.5 minutes which is 811 miles per hours
maybe a airplane can go into space if it can go 811 miles an hour for 8.5 minutes but a railgun defintely can
they said the space shuttle went 17,000 miles an hour but if it did it would go 100 miles in under 3 seconds

Why not spend the effort to stabilize the projectiles? The one where shooting the head off the statue we can see the projectile not rotating in the correct axis.

Are there any schematics for this?
