Her russian for 5 years is so bad

You're asking hard questions. Not because the answer has to be in Russian, but because the student has to assess their own lack of skill to guide their own learning. This is difficult, until you have some sufficient skill to accurately determine your own shortfalls. Which is understandably troublesome when you're starting from zero on a language only slightly easier than Chinese (for English speakers).

It's not fair, given your wife is probably early intermediate level. Meaning, confident in comunicating basic ideas, but struggles to get across more abstract concepts, or compicated emotions. Good enough to ask directions, but not explain mixed political feelings, or relay technical information.

Pronounciation is also noticeably off. Understanable, but clearly not a native speaker. As teachers, it's easy to compromise on this point: I know what you meant, so others will too. But it's not a thing we would let slide in our own command of English. So it's not quite fair to let it go in our students.

At least they should be aware.

I'm an American living in France for 15 years. I met a wonderful Russian woman in the park where we work out together. Our common language is French and we both speak it quite well but I wanted to start another language as a personal challenge so this Russian thing chose me. We have started by counting in Russian while exercising. It was really hard at first but it's becoming second nature. Russian is something completely different but extremely interesting.

Вот начиная говорить по английски такая же путаница в голове начинается, получается иногда несвязная каша в предложении. Для носителей это наверное звучит, так же как и она говорит по русски

I don't know when this video was made or when the video where you guys went grocery shopping was made, but I would guess that the grocery shopping video was quite some time before this one.
