Making the McDonald's Filet-O-Fish Sandwich At Home | But Better

This is prolly the only ever comment section that I can relate to but like, I live in Cali, SF Bay Area. You’d think we’d have a couple fish markets like Tsujiki Fish Market in Japan……sadly we don’t, so I have to go to the grocery store for fish, which isn’t bad, but like, I want the fish market man, I want to pick out what came off the boat 1 hour ago. Closes one to me is a $7 toll and a about 1.5hr drive + paying for parking :/

Many years ago, when I used to go to Mickey D's, they used a full slice of cheese, and the sauce actually tasted pretty good. It wasn't high cuisine, but it was my favorite thing on the menu. So, I stopped by there on a road trip a couple months ago and got one for nostalgia. I really wish I hadn't, because the quality was... well, this. You can't go home again, as they say.

Never tried an American FOF, but here is Australia ( specifically Sydney, NSW) - I eat Macca's maybe 3 times a year, and I get a Big Mac or Quarter Pounder with Cheese, and /or a Fillet of Fish. If the FOF is cooked right before I get it - it is excellent - I firmly believe the US fast food is 10 X worse that here in Australia. I NEVER have had any reason not to love it. Sure you can taste the processed cheese, but it an OK meal. I actually prefer Burger KIng ( here in Australia it is called Hungry Jacks ). But I will always root for the FOF here in NSW, Australia.... In fact the only reason I am watching this video is because I am recreating a FOF - my own version with homemade Tartare sauce, and Aldi fish - Crumbed Whiting, and Tempura battered fish right now for my supper. Aldi Brioche buns, cobb lettuce, homemade tartare sauce ( capers, lemon, dill, hellman's mayo, salt and pepper, pickles, pickle juice ). sandwich pickles from store, Aldi Tasty cheddar cheese slices, and a bit of Kewpie mayo on top bun.

Nice but the buns would have to be just steamed
