Windows 8 was a much needed over hual of windows system but microsoft was betting big on touch screen systems being mainstream with windows 8 which didn't really catch on you can see it in windows 8 UI but market maybe wasn't ready to go full touchscreen at that time and hardware for touchscreen systems was very expensive like 4 to 6 times expensive compared to normal TN panel and some were still using crt monitors too so lcd and led production was in its faint steps lcd and led were very very expensive at that time even in usa too , i was there as kid when i was 50 inch lcd led tv being sold at above 3000 dollar price range from samsung , song and all the mainstream brands toshiba really tried hard to bring the producting boost it needed but they were too early to the market which was still in its very starting days where smartphones were not really that mainstream everyone was rocking nokia and blackberry you might say they had lcd screens but i m speaking about big screen lcd touchscreens which were under development at that time because costs were really high
