Another interesting fact from everyday life is that the word "coach," which means a large four-wheeled, covered carriage, got its name from the Hungarian village of Kocs, where this type of vehicle was first made in the 1500s.
There is also a story that the word "bacon" got its name from a Hungarian mountain range (the Bakony Mountains), where many pigs used to graze. I'm not sure if this is really true, but it could easily be.

Correction: The safety match was invented in 1844 in Sweden, by Gustaf Eric Pasch, improved on by Johan Edvard Lundström, and prevented unintentional combustion by separating the reactive ingredients between the match head and the striking surface.

Brooo, and unbelievable but.. hollywood make hungarians. Adolph Zukor - Paramount Pictures. William Fox (Fried Vilmos) 20th century fox and other other... Bela Lugosi (Dracula) . Harry Houdini. (Weisz Erik) from Budapest. many more inventions could be listed. unfortunately, Hungary was torn apart by competing Western European countries for 100 years, I am very sad about that.

Hungary also invented the concept of juridical religious tolerence, during the reformation in the 16th century. And also the concept of "flow", invented by a Hungarian psychoterapist in the 1980's.

Just one more fun fact, In the year 2023 two Hungarians won the Nobel prize, Katalin Kariko for inventing the RNA vaccines (that were first used against COVID) won the Nobel prize of Medicine, and the other Nobile prize for Physics went to Ferenc Krausz for (I don't even understand what) but something about particles and lasers.

Oszkár Asbóth was not invented the working helikopter. He wanted to, but failed several times. Only a clear, windless day could fly: mostly rise, hover, land, and stabilized with ropes with men on ground. He ignored experiences from other inventors and he grossed out his small successes. His helicopter was not able to fly stable at its own.

Asbóth's Helicopter was fake, it never really worked, color TV his method wasnt used afterall not good enough, and 3-4 more guys were Jews who ran from Holocaust in 2nd world war ( Bíró, Neuman, Gábor, etc)

that small floppy if i remember correctly could hold 1.44Megabytes (or somewhat more if compressed), the older bigger ones were 720Kilobytes or 1.2 Megabytes later on.
