I just love how the movie doesnt treat Max like an idiot protag in spite of his otherwise brutish and primal behavior, but as smart and pretty cunning, the first thing he does is secure the rig and collect all the guns.

The tension between Max and Furiosa in the scene is palpable. Not surprising considering Hardy and Theron didn't like each other and bickered while filming.

You can easily tell what Max is thinking when Furiosa says her plea.
Max: after she mentions the consequences of Joe finding hot he shot his wife I could take him, besides death would be preferable than living out here.
Max: after she mentions how powerful the rig is So was my car, but I don't care.
Max: after offering to get his muzzle off Ok you all can get in.

Here he was still mostly an animal. Nothing more than survival instinct personified with only the faintest whisper of who he was remaining sealed away behind his broken spirit and hopelessness. By the end he’d regained himself by witnessing a benevolent warrior risk everything to topple a decadent tyrant. He left because he finally had a purpose for the first time in as long as he could remember, and only he knew what that purpose was. He helped her save her people. She helped him remember that survival is nothing without hope. I just wish we’d have been able to see what max was going to do next.

Fun Fact: George actually wanted EMINEM to play as Max but Eminem declined the role, simply because he didn’t wanna travel overseas…imagine if Eminem actually full sent it lmao

For some reason I find Tom Hardy’s acting here his best scene. He hardly talks and doesn’t even do any fighting. And yet comes across so animalistic but intelligent at the same time. Very underrated performance
