Creamy Tomato Chicken Curry - The Ultimate Tomato Chicken Recipe
Today I will be showing you a delicious tomato chicken curry which also happens to be one of my favourite recipes. This spicy, tangy, creamy chicken curry is a crowd pleaser as it is extremely delicious.

Ingredients required for making tomato chicken - serves 6
* chicken - 1 kilo / 2.2 lb
* Onion - 1 large or 2 medium
* Grated ginger - 2 tablespoon
* Grated garlic - 1 tablespoon
* Dried Bayleaf - 2
* Cinnamon Stick - 1 inch
* Green Cardamoms - 4
* Tomato puree - 3/4 th cup. You can even use 1 cup of canned crushed tomatoes. If using fresh tomatoes - You need 5 to 6 large tomatoes. With a knife make a X like score mark on each tomato on the end opposite to the part which is attached to the stem. Heat a pot of water. Once it comes up to a boil, carefully add the tomatoes with a spoon. Boil for 5 minutes or until you see the skin of tomatoes starting to loosen up. Drain the water and let it cool down till it is comfortable enough to handle. Then peel off the skins. Put them in a blender and blend to a smooth paste. You need about one whole cup of pureed tomato.
* Turmeric powder/haldi - 1/4th teaspoon
* Kashmiri red chili powder - 1 tablespoon. Adjust the amount according to your preference. Note that Kashmiri red chili powder is mild in nature compared to regular red chili powder but it can still be over powering for some people. So use less in the beginning to start with. You can add more once you are more familiar with it. You can even use paprika or a combination of paprika and cayenne pepper. You can even use regular red chili powder. In that use just a teaspoon.
* Coriander powder/ dhania powder - 1 tablespoon
* Dried fenugreek leaves/ kasuri methi - 1/2 teaspoon crushed
* Shahi Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon. If you want to make your own check out my recipe.

* Warm water - 2 to 3 cups depending on how much gravy you would like
* Salt - To taste. Please taste the tomato puree you are using before adding it to the pan. If it tastes salty add less salt.
* Sugar - 1 tablespoon
* Cooking cream (totally optional) - 2 to 4 tablespoons
* Coriander leaves - as desired
* Oil - 4 to 5 tablespoons
Serve this with rice, roti or naan.
