Loved your choices and was most surprised by your Edsel and turnpike choices but wouldn’t debate it with you. Totally enjoyed it
Sincerely,
Bob Norman
I was just the right age to see all these classic cars when they first appeared on showroom floors. Always looked forward to running around to all the dealerships and salivating over all the new designs that I dreamed I would own one day.
ОтветитьI owned a 1949 Kaiser four door with continental 6 cyl. Always thought that the interior design was really ahead of it's time. Instead of rotating handles for opening the door it had push buttons. Also the traditional "hump" on back seat floor that allowed clearance for the driveshaft was almost completely absent. the entire floor was completely flat except for a very slight ripple in the middle.
ОтветитьWhen you talk about how how much you like the 56 Chevy wagon your actually showing a black 57 Chevy wagon..........
ОтветитьI never had a "FAVORITE" my "FAVORITE" was one that would start-run-drive, didn't care really about make/model.......THEY USED TO BE JUST TRANSPORTATION. But now they're anything & everything but...........the truth of the matter is, "THEY"RE JUST ANOTHER DAMNED OLD PILE OF IRON"........................................
ОтветитьAnd they were very colorful inside and out. Unlike today’s fugly drab and dark cars. What is with gray exteriors and dark interiors??
ОтветитьToday cars and trucks don't talk. They are the stepford vehicles. All computerized😢
ОтветитьI had a 55 black and white Ford Crown Victoria. Also had 2 57 Chevies and a 59 Chevy convertible. And last but not least, a 59 T Bird. Yeah! the fifties cars has a style and grace that nothing before or after can compare. They were works of art and loads of fun to drive. I am 83 years old. My first Harley was a 1942 Flat Head 45. Been a motor head all my life.
ОтветитьI was a little surprised not to see the 59 Buick Electra 225 4 door flat top included. Along with the 59 Cadillac, it was all about over the top styling. It was also powered by the iconic 401 nail head engine. I’ll take mine in black with a gray interior. Looks like a rolling tuxedo to me.
Ответить1956 caddilac conv. brough
ОтветитьThe '56-58 Cadillac Eldorados were the best styled of all especially if they came with gold Sabre wheels
ОтветитьThis is a wonderful video! I agree with most of your choices completely, including some of the more controversial ones. I've always preferred the '58 Impala to earlier Tri 5 Chevvies and you nailed it by including the Skylark, Edsel, and Kaiser Manhattan/Dragon. The Turnpike Cruiser is the only that I find downright ugly and disproportionate. I love the Forward Look MoPars, but '56 was the high point in my opinion, before things got really out of hand. Andy
Ответитьthe 1960 pont
Ответить1956 & 1957 Corvette are my favorite cars, still today in 2023. They are my personal favorite cars! Sooner-Bo
ОтветитьAlthough I took my driver's test in 1964 at age 16 in my father's '63 Chrysler 300J, my favorite care of that era was the '57 Chevy Bel Air in a modest middling blue with white trim that I bought (with dad's help) used. Still IMHO the nicest car of the '50s & with the early T-Birds & 'Vettes, the only one that turns my head today when I see one in great condition.
Ответитьwhen i was 22 in 76 i had a 56 2 door ht victoria the car i all ways wanted because there beautiful. put in a 351 4 speed an drove it a few years till it got out from under me and sideswiped a parked car. im still sick. back then the only parts you could get were in a junkyard. i realize now it could be fixed. ah being young.😐
ОтветитьTHE '55 Chevy, hands down!!!!!!!!!
I owned one in the Republic of Panama, while serving there with the U.S.A.F. I'll NEVER forget the Fun! Fun! Fun! I had while I had it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You left out the best looking and most perfectly proportioned car of the 50s or any other era. 1956 mercury montclair.
ОтветитьWow, I absolutely loved this video. It takes me to a place in time that was post war America and a tribute to the automotive industry. I was born in’49 and do have memories of seeing these stunning vehicles during that special period in America. Thank you!
ОтветитьI like the 1956 Vicki that is black and red in the last picture
ОтветитьMy dad had 56 Ford 500 he gave it to me later when i was 16 years old. He got another ,62 Ford . After i got married i had a 57 Chevy Black inside out. Beautiful car.
I also had a 65 Ford fairlane .
There were others ,but those were my favorites. Im 80 years old now ,left with great memories ❤
Loved watching this. I agree that the 55-56 Ford convertibles, coupes, and wagons were the best-looking cars ever made. I particularly like the Sunliner convertible which was the last image in your piece. These came in some wonderful colors: red and white, yellow and white; purple and white, pink and white, all white, all red and many others. I also like the 56 a little better than the 55. The 56s had a deep dish steering wheel, which I did not like at the time. As to the sports cars, I think the early Corvettes and the 55-56 Thunderbirds tie for first place. Many of the birds had continental kits on the back. I do not object to them, but I prefer cars without them. I did not like the 57 Thunderbird as much, as the trunk seemed too long to me, and the tail fins flared outward. A friend of mine, who used to race Corvettes, had a 57 Sebring edition all in pieces in his garage, in the early stage of restoration. He sold the pieces for over $100,000 about 20 years ago. I had an 86 Corvette convertible, which was exceedingly beautiful.
ОтветитьI worked at a auction in Riverside,Ca. And there was a Pontiac safari with fuel injection, blue over white that sold for $132.000
ОтветитьYou rang the bell each and every time with me.....the Pontiac Safari was a personal favorite cause my Mom drove one. ....brings tears to my eyes to see that car.
ОтветитьThat 58" Chevy is stunning 😍
ОтветитьThanks.for that waltz down memory lane.
At 77 years, I recall just about all 20 models. My grandfather was a Studebaker and also Keiser. He owned multiple Studebakers during the 50's and early 60's.
Thanks so much for your efforts
You missed the 57 & 58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham
ОтветитьLove your selections except the Kaiser. Everything about the C1 is PERFECT. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьA teenager could take these cars apart and do anything on them. You didn’t need a degree in computer science to turn on the radio! But 100,000 miles and they fell apart. And when I compare the 1950s cars at the car show with a modern car, I’ll take the modern car every time.
ОтветитьYou did not add any Hudson or Ramblers!!!
ОтветитьI’ve been blessed to own 2 of the cars mentioned. A 57 Desoto fireflite and a 58 Chevy. That was a Biscsyne.
ОтветитьYou missed the 1953 Hudson Hornet. All the cars you picked were great but you left one out. I liked the Hudson that was a light green with a black top. A very fast car that i learned to drive on!
ОтветитьI'll do it for you Lord I believe in miracles thank you 1504 I accept I am stronger than my enemies I am prosperous and wealth amen remove evil glory be to you all I need is God Amen cdk c a r y Knott
ОтветитьMy all time favorite is the 1959 Chevy 2 door Impala.
ОтветитьI am mature enough to have seen all of these vehicles and driven or rode in most of them. My parents had the nine passenger '55 Ford station wagon and my sister had the '56 sunliner in black and white that is the final image on this series. I was from a large extended family that owned most of these cars at one time or another and I enjoyed every one. Thanks for the memories!
ОтветитьFord Fairlane Hard top convertible
ОтветитьWish all the car companies would go back to the 50’s mentality: you can tell the motor company by the design of the car. Nowadays, they all look alike 😢
ОтветитьI love the 57 fairlane, i had one when i was 16 years old
ОтветитьDid his reearch...
ОтветитьI still wish Ford would make Mercury and it was my favorite car in the 50's. I was too young to own one and my dad had a 61 Mercury Meteor , the only Ford product he ever had. He was a GM guy with Buicks and Cads. I had a 67 Mercury Cougar and 69 and I wished I still had the 67 model
ОтветитьThe 1964 Mercury should have made the list.
ОтветитьYou seem to have missed the mid-50's Studebaker Starlite Coupes with their amazingly futuristic styling.
ОтветитьYou have good taste in cars make mine the 56 hardtop Ford baby blue and white
ОтветитьIn comparing the cars you were justified in ignoring the handling and braking capabilities of the cars. US automakers did too.
Ответить,57 power pack ruled looks doesn't matter in the , 50s horse power was on the mind
ОтветитьKeep your 55 vette, give me a 54 Oldsmobile 88 concept that GM killed, had a v8 before your precious corvette
ОтветитьNo. 1 - 1957 Chevy The most beautiful car ever built.
Ответитьgreat show.
