I'll now be researching how to change the CVT fluid.

ОтветитьIt's interesting to se how the bean counters have ruined a time and tested power transfer method and made it unreliable. If they didn't cheap out on parts such as balls instead of keys in the keyways and had multiple seals per piston I could see this being a fairly reliable transmission. There's less friction and overall moving parts then a standard geared transmission which would seem like a no brainer.

ОтветитьIOI have a subaru with a CVT. Why would I feel a change in gears like a regular AT?
I can get it to not 'shift' if I use a slow steady pressure on the gas pedal.
But, in most cases I feel a 'shift' even though there are no gears. Why?
2007 Nissan Sentra with cvt here purchased new. Replaced (drain and fill) cvt fluid every 30k miles. She just flipped 160,000 miles. I want to get a couple more low mile years out of her as a in town grocery getter. Otherwise no issues with this cvt.
Ответитьit only failed because nissan doesn't set cvt oil change intervals to their transmissions, honda cvts have cvt oil changes every 15,000 miles

ОтветитьI am a cvt victim from germany. Have a Nissan Juke 2015 with 99.000 km. Now the cvt failed totally. Repair cost more than 11.500,- Euro. Nissan will pay nothing. The transmission is crap. Somtime ago the Nissan-dealer said, that a cvt oil chance isnt´t necessary. BS

I renewed the trans oil twice with exactly the same amount and it started to judder upon acceleration once it was fully warmed up, I did everything correctly as advised and was very disappointed ☹️
I like Nissan. They are top when it comes to design but I don't understand why they risk their business because of bad transmission. They should have fired their Chief Engineer and CEO.

ОтветитьThe servicing software (Haynes) i use in my garage does not state the fluid replacement interval for the European specification (I own a 2016 Auris hybrid). When I called Toyota service help desk and asked about it they said "Sir, these transmissions are sealed for life".
Erm, nah. It's coming to 50k miles and I'll he changing the fluid shortly. Not taking any chances, even though it's a Toyota.

ОтветитьHave owned 4 Nissan Altima's. Was getting set to buy a new 2019 when heard about cvt transmission and backed away. Had a friend buy one about same time and had is cvt go at 60,000km. Thannks no thanks. Dodged a bad bullet.

ОтветитьCVT is a Bad design, technology suppose to go forward, instead it is going backword, from good long lasting hydrolic planetary gear transmission to a weak CVT one that dosent last very long and it is weak meaning you can trust it to tow somethimg behind the car or even going on dangerous uphill, CVT: power of the car rely on a belt or chain on a flat variable wheel, that crazy and stupid, they convert cars to motorcycle, at least motorcycle id better because the chain is attached to a gear with teeth from both sides engine and the wheel.
