From honor student to heroin addict

Bruh when i was 15-16 my biggest concern was video games like the existence of drugs and other stuff never once crossed my mind, I cant understand how these 15 year olds just go and do heroin its so mind boggling to me

Being the first daughter of a cop and a farmer (20 miles away from the closest town), I obviously had a very sheltered childhood. And for reasons, I’ll never understand, my parents never once talked to us kids about drugs. I literally did not even know about drug addiction until my mid 20s. I knew that some people got addicted to their own prescriptions but I literally did not know until I was 23 yrs old, that there were actually people out there who sought out those who were prescribed a narcotic in order to buy them. That’s how extremely naive I was. I got married young, didn’t even try marijuana til I was 25. Was introduced to heroin at age 34 and lost absolutely everything in less than two years. Heroin addiction is the worst thing I’ve ever had to conquer. Like most of us, I was raised to believe that I could do anything that I set my mind to, so the first time I decided to quit cold turkey bcz after 6 mos, I realized I was in over my head and that it was controlling me, I had no idea how bad the withdrawals would be. I worked evenings as a secretary for a travel agency and the morning I decided I was done with that garbage, I realized by noon just how “dope sick” I was. The more determined I became, the worse the sickness got. I remember flipping and flopping all over my bed and finally realizing around noon that if I were going to work that eve, I had better get some of that garbage so that I’d be physically able to. THAT WAS WHEN I KNEW I WAS IN OVER MY HEAD. I truly cannot imagine going through that as a child. And thank God, I’ve been clean 12 yrs now. If I can do it anyone can.

This is sad but 15 is wayyy to early to be an addict .guy could've easily said no ,i didn't know the capabilities of any drug his age i always heard that they were bad for the mental health whose sole purpose is to make you feel good i didn't like the idea of feeling good without any effort so i always avoided it

I did struggle with heroïn, because of my backpains. ThenI was off it am l a heroïn addict? concerning the pain no.I am. Fysical addicted not mentally.Who can help me out?

I dont judge who succumbed to the temptation and tried heroin, you must have been in a really difficult and dark place. But I really REALLY would like to understand the thought process you know... what it takes to draw someone in the moment to try it. Again, no judgement, just curiosity

I don't understand. At the school I went to (in the UK but don't know if it makes a difference) loads of people took drugs (Weed, MDMA, ketamine etc.) but nobody touched heroin because everyone had been taught from an early age that you just don't do it. I think it wouldv'e been weird or uncool if someone said they tried heroin...Why aren't these kids being taught that from a young age??

i just managed to quit shooting heroin for 2 weeks + im down from 4g to 0,25g a day and im really happy im so close to get over it forever!
