This is Hendrix best work. The
intro, lyrics and phrasing are sublime

I wish he would have played this as he intended to at Woodstock…….however, if you can’t remember the words there’s not much point!! A true genius and the biggest, most staggering musical loss of them all. It still gets me to this day.

It is incredible the level of research and artistic maturity that had been reached by Jimi Hendrix, of which Valleys of Neptune is the most heartfelt testimony. Four months before his death Hendrix attended the Record Plant Studio to record beyond perfection songs like this masterpiece. It is sad to wonder where a musician like this could have arrived if he had not burned so quickly.

Jimi tried to fit a whole pamphlet in the last quarter of this song
