There’s so many things people don’t understand that prevent police from doing certain things. It’s always easy to point fingers than gain understanding and educating themselves on the laws. This is very tragic and my condolences and prayers to family.
Defunding and understaffing, let’s look at the entire picture. How about employer background checks that go further than a credit and driving record for those that have access to secured and private areas of living!?!

I got mad respect for Miya's family and that security guard who went above and beyond his call of duty. Police incompetence knows no bounds, I hope her family gets the justice they deserve. The condo I used to live in does not allow maintenance to have keys, security has them and management will advise security when to allow maintenance in. Management sends an email to the tenant/landlord and security MUST be present with maintenance if the tenant is not home. Maintenance doesn't get to access anything all willynilly. Security will leave you an official note about the time and why your unit was accessed as a reminder if you didn't check your email. That complex is way too lax and backwards. No grown man should have unlimited access to the apartments of young and/or single women living alone.

Am I missing something, that first officer could not go in. Technically him opening the window without permission alone could get him fired. He can't take fingerprints or go in without a court order. You either want limited power for government officials or you can have a police state. You can't have it both ways.

I think either late 90s or early 2000s...When my bro had a mental break i called my dad and we had a missing person on him under 10 hours. They found him wondering on the side of the road with no shoes in the bext state. The police held him for 24 hours and my uncle and I went down and got him... and then we put him in the hospital for 72 hour hold. This began the long journey of mental illness.

And this happen to Miya now over 20+ years later and they didn't get their butts searching. Idk what to think.

I would like to say sadly tho…the Police deff didnt take this situation seriously enough, but neither did the family and friends. If everyone had so many screenshots and screen recordings of this and yall even called it an obsession…why was she allowed to move by herself? No one extended a safe place for her to go and for her to block contact with him? I do get Miya had her own dreams to chase, but I do wish someone could have given her a better place to stay where he wasnt the maint staff.
