I don't always agree with Adum, but he has the best quote of all here: "You get enough celebrities, some crazy shit is bound to happen"

Out of all the Oscar recap videos this one has the best rewatch potential

They cut out alot of it and I still want to die after watching this. The Oscars are irreversibly stained with corporate greed.

It could've been saved if Chris Rock appeared behind Will during his Oscar acceptance-speech and smashed a breakaway tennis-racket over his head and Will went, "Okay, we even now"

White America is fundamentally unable to handle watching real violence. Its so fucking funny how traumatized everybody was watching somebody slap somebody.

I think there is a correlation between the Oscars not being streamed for free on any platform and their lack of viewership/viewership declining. Most people don't watch TV in the traditional sense. I think The Oscars are a bit slow when it comes to adapting to the culture. I think they desperately want to be the ones who set the trends but they haven't been able to evolve with the times in terms of accessibility. Many institutions have crumbled under the weight of self importance. They need to learn to grow and change if they want to achieve relevance again..
As the song says "Old Hollywood is over. Release the stars!"

Between this and the xgames I'm wondering if anyone in my generation gives a fuck about these big tv "events" like the superbowl is just for alcoholics and academy awards are for rich people. The version I support was when they aired DBZ movies on Toonami. Also I will forever choose to remember the talent producer for the event and Haryn Turd and I refuse to accept anything else as truth.

Why do you keep saying that Will Smith punched Chris Rock when it very clearly was a slap? Chris Rock himself said that Will Smith slapped him.

To come back after the 2023 Oscars and hear Scoot say this one ran just as long with EIGHT less categories blows my fucking mind. If anything, the slap at least made the rest of the show interesting.

Dreamgirls definitely was a cheer worthy moment, I remember being a kid in the theater and saw that performance and after she finished everyone in the movie theater got up and cheered and I remember simultaneously being completely in awe and also wondering why we were cheering for film but people were just that moved

Rewatching this after some time has passed, it's so fucking insane this actually happened and knowing all the intricacies of why it happened etc. Also, people actually defending actual assault because his wife was mildly perturbed by a barely offensive joke. Like, cinema couldnt even conjure such a unthinkable narrative as this one.
