I'm from Colombia and I love my country and people are generally very warm and social. Colombians are known for great hospitality and a very cheerful and inclusive vibe. However it is very unfortunate that in our culture we are always trying to take advantage of any situation where there is monetary exchange involved. It's shameful that you had to experience that 1st hand but it is the unfortunate truth.
ОтветитьI am not into so much Panamá, It is a small country and also there are some spots in the capital that are unsafe for locals so you have to be vigilant as well there, my cousin aware me about the robbers in Panamá but I think it can be safer in tourist places. Not so much places or cities to visit. Panamá does not have beachs as Colombia, if you want to go to the beachs the only way to go there is by boat to the island near by to coast.
ОтветитьRUFUS DU SOL is amazing! Sorry all of the troubles happened to you
ОтветитьThank you for leaving Medellín. We need more guys with the same idea. We use to live in a better place before all of you came here. Because of foreigners, living cost, prostitution and drugs consumption become ours biggest problems. I hope all of you find the paradise that you are looking for, but also I know that it will become the jungle after you passed out. Good luck on your future homes.
ОтветитьGood info
ОтветитьIf you think Medellin is bad wait til you see how shady Colombians are in Cartagena. Every Airbnb host is out to get you with excessive damages to their house (that are nonexistent). Cops pull you over for being in a taxi so they can search everyone in the car and shake them down (some instances they plant coke on you and tell you they must be paid or you go to jail). Kids are out pickpocketing people in the old city. Masseuses on the beach hassle you endlessly and then double the agreed upon price. Cartagena can burn in hell.
ОтветитьBecause it’s a dangerous shithole?
ОтветитьExpats? Migrants ! You ara a migrant
ОтветитьLeft Panama for Medellin for all the reasons you mentioned. Nevermind the fact I got pickpocketed in Panama and screwed on real estate, life is just so much better in Medellin. I’ll put up with the little extra nonsense.
ОтветитьNot supposed to be wearing shorts in medellin. Another American lost boy.
ОтветитьSo he left because they didn’t honor his ticket at the concert?? lol
ОтветитьLook you dont need to sugar coat Colombia, its a completely corrupt goverment full of cons otherwise..Un-workable and its getting worse,,,
now a proposed law for the government to access whatever bank account legally take your money and call it a loan. It probobly wont get passed...but the idea that a president would propose that means total economic collapse. All banks would desolve. Who put there money in them?
I would not recomend investments here.,,not a car not a apt,, nothing, rent and enjoy..
Its because the Venezuelans dude, there 3 million homeless and thieves just from Venezuela
ОтветитьI’m from Colombia, I haven’t lived there in 24 years but still have family there and it truly baffles me why people are so trusty of Colombians. Like, just don’t. Don’t trust Colombians. It’s sad to say but it’s true. If anyone tells you that Colombia is not dangerous, they’re lying. Yes, people are nice, women are pretty (I’m a woman) Santa Marta has gorgeous beaches, Medellin has the perfect weather, real state is cheaper than the US but, it is dangerous and Colombians are caniving as heck. Just beware, you e been warned 🤷🏻♀️
ОтветитьAppreciate the video comparing the two Countries. I've had brief visits in Medellin and Panama City. Loved Medellin (people, culture) and I could tell, just like other major cities in the world there are good and not so good parts. Panama City - I want to go back and spend some time there. Both are beautiful ciites. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьIn Colombia we have "Súper intendencia de industria y comercio" and if they sold you 2 times the tickets like that...one email is all you need for a full refund... And is probable you don't even need to send the email because once you mention that name they will be like: "hey! hold on. Here is you full refund".
Also you mention you like panama Banks over Colombia, but did you know that the best banks of panama are Colombians? 👀 Just saying.
dizq panama xd
ОтветитьZero stolen phones in Panama lol
ОтветитьYou can overcome all the cons with only one exception. You really left Medellin because you couldn't obtain a residence permit. You are not alone. Idon't like Panama, but I agree on the reliable banking. That is the reason my only bind with Panama is my bank account.
ОтветитьI got through my first "honeymoon" year in Medellín without serious incident (ironically, when I was the least cautious), but I guess as a result I let my guard down and in the three years since have had two home invasion burglaries (while sleeping in bed in my bedroom), a stolen bike when the lock was cut, and an iPhone pick-pocketed on the metro. My personal view regarding safety is it's not a matter of "if" but rather "when" you will become a victim, and I don't do anything here now without first considering the security implications. Much less going out at night for starters, as well as limiting who gets into my apartment. You can make it work here, but you've got to roll with the punches and never forget you can be a likely target.
ОтветитьYou know, it always baffles me a little bit when american inmigrants talk about latin american countries and they talk about it from the perspective of rich white people. Some of those incidents could've been avoided if you really integrate into the culture. I'm a foreigner too. I'm from Venezuela and I made it a point not to befriend people from Venezuela. I only wanted to befriend Colombian people and learn about the culture. But a lot of american inmigrants don't ever bother to learn the language and they live in this bubble of Poblado or Laureles. And they think they have a compresive grasp of life in the city. It's kind of ironical when you have people in the US saying that if you're going to live there you have to speak american. Of course, the people saying that are not the ones traveling around the world.
So wherever you go, you have to make the effort to integrate by learning the language, befriending people from the culture. Getting out of the touristic zones. I have an american friend who wanted to live in the real Medellin and he went and move from Poblado to Manrique. Kudos to him. LOL.
No place is 100% safe. In the US you have gun violence and school shootings. Getting a tourist visa is VERY hard, let alone a work visa. So it's supposed to be hard for us and easy for you guys?
In medellin the people are racist!
ОтветитьThat’s insane you put so much into the country and they just deny you
ОтветитьNo explaining necessary. All you need to know is that you’ll find thousands of Colombians (mostly paisas from Medellin) in Panama but you’ll hardly find any Panamanians living in Medellin or any other city in Colombia.
That tells you a lot about both places.
Been to both places. Prefer Medellin for almost everything but I can see why the city rubbed you the wrong way. You can't beat the weather, nature/hiking in Antioquia and people. You do have to keep your head on swivel in some locations but I felt the same in BA/Rio/other Latin American cities. Hope you enjoy Panama!
ОтветитьThe only time I've suffered from card scam was in Miami. I used an ATM there and bam, they started using my card. Thankfully the bank refunded. But I guess, it depends on each person, and what they have in their mind...I know it sounds woo-woo but it's true
ОтветитьThat Visa application resonates perfectly with me. I applied last year for a student visa. Had everything in order. Got denied. This year I tried the digital nomad visa. Got Denied again. Both times the immigration didnt want to tell me why. 2k$ wasted.
ОтветитьGood we are not fucking missing you assholeee
ОтветитьYou are 100% correct. I am born here in Medellin; we have some of the sayings popular proverbs such as “dar papaya”, “el vivo vive del bobo”, “malicia indígena”, etc. They all exemplify the culture of dishonesty here and in Colombia in general. Of course, there honest people here but there are also very unscrupulous people here and that’s why the drug trade and other illicit activities have taken a strong foothold here. It’s part of our colonial legacy. It pains me to admit this but is true.
Ответить3300 my ass
ОтветитьCops in Medellin are corrupt
Ответитьhaha, too funny. cracks me up. falling through hole in side walk. oh yeah. definitely.. i'm from and live in PTY, and it's so true. You have to have a sense of humor to live here.
Ответить✅
ОтветитьI' ve been in both places but my experience in Panama city was horrible vs Medellin for me was a paradise, everyone has different experiences and has diffferent perceptions of everything.
Ответитьmate. chill out+you sound like you have never been travelling in latam. panama is nuts, prices same like US. what is the purpose to move there. funny video
ОтветитьIn August 2024, I spent several weeks in Panama City, Panama, wearing long pants and all. I wanted to minimize my appearance as a gringo. I speak some Spanish, which helps me get around, but I still need some work. I plan on returning in July 2025. I aim to live in areas away from many Canadian and American expats. The biggest complaint I've read on some vlogs people had is that no one spoke English. I find that laughable. We're visitors to their country. I think learning Spanish and local customs is imperative to enjoy your stay.
ОтветитьI lived on Av Balboa for over a year and went to all the festivals and concerts, and I’d keep my hands in my pockets because that’s where I’d keep my wallet and phone. There were multiple occasions where people would reach into my pockets and I’d smack their hand out. Lots of youngsters that want to make a quick buck no matter where you are.
ОтветитьIts just not for beginners
ОтветитьMedellin...No thanks. Risk of Scopolamine druggings and getting robbed
Your much better off in Florianopolis in Brazil. Beautiful and safer and you got Balneario cambriu an hour away.
I got robbed gunpoint broad daylight in poblado. No one helped. Medellin is dangerous and don't depend on any good samaritans. Theft, dishonesty in women, is just a part of the culture. Be careful.
ОтветитьI love Medellin weather.. and ofcourse beautiful women.. same time zone as US. 500Meg internet.. I am not going anywhere 😀
ОтветитьEveryone in Medellin is wondering where this guy went . They may never get over the loss😢
ОтветитьYou left medellin because you had a bad experience at a concert?
Ответитьyour experience in Medellin is very similar to my own. i like the the heat of Panama. also, the driving in Panama is much easier and has great golf, fishing and snorkeling.
ОтветитьNo more Medellin , very dangerous city ; expensive , crime rate high !!!, impossible to live today , my recommendation avoid Medellin , Bogota and Cartagena !!; they are loosing the tourist and investors , prices are sky rocket and very height !!!, if they don't lower the prices , this economy is going to collapse and will have more crime !!!!don't recommend Medellin any more , is not safe !!!!......
ОтветитьWell they are other cities in Colombia like Armenia , Pereira , Manizalez Barranquilla , Sta Marta where live is less stressfull and people is also very nice ; they have to eliminate the social stratus 1 to 6 , this cause discrimination to the Colombians , living like that is not healthy , creates many social problems !! ; also they have to lower the prices on rentals and the sales of properties and also lower the prices for food , and this way , they can incresae the tourism and Colombians will be able to afford the economy that tourist people bringt to the country , base on the low salaries they have , I don't think Colombians can't afford to paid 5'000.000 or 6'000.000 pesos a month for rent ??? ; securiry will be always an issue in Colombia !!!, no rolex or Iphones on the streets my friends !!!!, the best of this country the people and the friendly company , and new friends !!!
Ответитьgood video i enjoyed good infermation
ОтветитьTo summarize succinctly: beware of becoming entranced by the undoubtedly beautiful and vibrant city of Medellín. It may appear as a beautifully wrapped package, yet it conceals a myriad of scammers, h00%%kers and criminals who will stop at nothing to rob you—individuals devoid of integrity. Exercise caution and do not take the words of Colombians at face value; they exhibit compulsive tendencies towards deception and fraud. Go for 2 weeks and run!
ОтветитьPANAMA IS AMERICANIZED AND MEDELLIN WOULD NEVER be, BECAUSE its SPANISH VIBE TOWN that's it!!! if you want to be in US go back and buy in Miami. We need those good prices stay low for us because with so many of you, it will rise up for bad. then stay in Panama or Miami :P hahahha
ОтветитьThis guy is spot on about Medellin
Ответить
