I go down to Mt Pleasant once a year but for only 48hrs. I could stay another day but I feel as if there’s nothing to do coming from NYC. There’s nice people and the roads are smooth; you don’t get neither of those two up in NY. It’s unfortunate a lot of people don’t do a thorough research as far as buying homes and checking the location. Anyway, it was a funny video. Thanks for sharing.

Where area would you recommend for warmer climate during Dec, Jan, Feb or just renting a property vs. Buying?

Friendly, cordial people? As general rule, I don't like people but I should be more specific: I don't like people where I live. SC may be a good change as I miss being around people because of a new reality here in PA.

take a trip to the north and see how many cars that DONT have a dent. Northern drivers are worse anytime than the south. Not much a yankee can do better than a southerner.

You can have tourist areas. I went up to Lake George N.Y. one summer. Traffic everywhere and big long lines to get into a grinder shop. You can have it! And and the swimming pool was 4-feet deep at the motel and they made me get out 'cause I was the only one swimming! Like how do they know if another stranger swimming would save me or call 911?

There is unhealthy food everywhere. If you want to eat healthily you can , just be responsible. order the right foods when you go out to eat or cook for yourself at home. As long as there is a whole foods store you're good. Southern women in affluent areas tend to be slim, so what are they eating?

South Carolina has vast areas that are still for sale at dirt cheap prices and some like in Myrtle Beach that should never be bought at any price. The great news for South Carolina is that it never had the truly stunning price appreciation of Charlotte, Atlanta let alone the entire State of Florida. The "bad news" is that as those truly massive real estate markets deflate they will be moving to South Carolina to start anew. Who wants to live in crime ridden California or be overrun by illegals in Texas in Arizona? The answer is of course no one. More good news for South Carolina. Not a "hot" market as what is at the moment and going on forever now had a very nice drive parallel to the I-26 Corridor and was very impressed. Again still a total avoid on Myrtle Beach tho.

Im sorry but your reasons are pretty focused on very specific areas and do not apply across the entire state. Most suburban areas are not plagued by most of what you complained about. You can literally live here for years and not personally encounter the "critters" you speak of. If you move to the coast, yes you may encounter flooding, hurricanes and hot weather. Hello its the south? Who doesnt know the south is hot? Thats why many homes have swimming pools and you know that "new fangled uppity air conditioning." Its very pricey on the coast but to throw the whole state under the bus is ridiculous. As for the unhealthy food, excuse me? Are you unable to shop for healthy foods? As far restaurants, I question where you live because the major cities in SC you can find every type of cuisine your heart desires, healthy and otherwise. You act as though the grocers only stock grits and grease, where do you shop? Its just simply not true. I really think you are just using assumptions and stereotypes a lot people from elsewhere have about the south. I lived in the most uppermost area of Maine for 8 years and you have no idea what living a slow life is until you live there. My point is, every state has its drawbacks and good points. Everyone should have a list of what matters to them when relocating to a different part of the country and research it first. I suggest coming for a visit for a week or two in person before moving anywhere. We are having a lot of people moving here recently so my guess is, plenty are finding its worth all those things you listed.

Best advice is do your home work before you move. It really doesn't matter where you go just do your search first. All areas across this country has problems. As far as food we all are accustomed to food we shouldn't eat regardless of the region. Flooding yes that to can happen anywhere that you get the right circumstance. Coastal areas can flood easier but it's not limited to Coastal states. Just do your research and always use good judgement.

To be honest a lot of what you shared like down falls is same up north in upstate ny. We have cooler weather for longer. But we get floods, we have all types of creatures, bugs , and wild like such as deer, bears, ground hogs , we have beautiful birds az well. The snow can be bad and so is the humidity!!

Thanks for your review, Jerry!! Even though I've lived in big cities overseas while growing up, my mom's family was from the Upstate of SC. After living in big cities growing up, I always appreciated the kindness and great weather in SC. I've been living in SC, since 1976. Of course there are things that I do not like about SC, just like many other states that I have visited, but overall, I'm happy living in SC. I've been retired since 2011, but I agree with what you said about the lower wages in SC. However, there are companies like BMW, in Spartanburg, and other German auto parts suppliers for BMW, that pay well. It also depends on what type of work you do, whether or not your wages are low. I have horrible allergies also, but I take medications to help me through those times. Personally, I like the wildlife and do not feel threatened. Again, great review, Jerry!!

I was born and raised in Charleston, SC, spent my teens on Folly Beach, my 20s in Myrtle Beach, traveled all over the country, lived everywhere, helped develop Jasper County, survived and cleaned up after Hurricane Hugo, currently own a mini ranch in Nebraska.... and all I want to do is come back to MB and be a beach bum. DH and I were just talking about one of the restaurants in Murrell's Inlet, that serves a buffet with fried chicken and collards.... SIGH. Bessinger's BBQ is still the best in the country! 🦐🦞🦀🫕🫕🍗🍗 You're not wrong - but after hearing all about and enduring "Western hospitality" for 15 years, I want to come back home where REAL Southern hospitality and a joyful attitude are loved and appreciated, not sneered at as 'weird' or 'immature'.

I’m at 3ft above in Florida and have never had water in my house but along with being low, we’re pretty much flat so there’s no place to hold up the water so it can fill up an area. Alligators are an apex predator but they leave you alone unless you sneak up on them or mess with them. Just takes being alert.

We (2 adults only) live in Florida so no fear of bugs, reptiles, gators and such. I'd take SC's hurricane frequency stats over Florida's any day. Agreed on the flooding and while we love the beach (which we are currently close to) we only go to it when (a) tourist season has passed or (b) we have out-of-town guests. But what is making us "look elsewhere" are Florida's insurance rates. Our homeowner's went up 100% last year (to $6,000 on our modest home) and our insurance on 2 older vehicles just went up 42%. This is chewing into our savings much faster than planned and is not sustainable. We may be giving you a call! 😀
