Honestly a great fight and Alves was a fairly dangerous guy at that point but GSP was the mma philosopher and could almost always understand his opponent's style and strengths and he was so well-rounded he could play around them at will. GSP will always be a legend.

the IQ shown by Gsp in this fight is just incredibile. His ability to mix striking and grappling was something that the mma world had never seen before, and the way he used them to neutralize his opponent's strenghts (Thiago's muay thai in this case) is still something unique nowadays. And he had all the will a champion must have: he tore his groin ligament in the 3rd round and nevertheless he kept dominating Thiago. And, most important thing, he was always respectful and classy, like a true samurai...What a champion!
