Oolacile is Darkroot in the past [Dark Souls DLC time-travel shown side-by-side]

I was always under the impression that oolacile was a bit aways from Gwyn and Anor Londo. It looks like it’s right down the street lol Gwyn could of went and stopped Manus himself, is it canon that we killed Manus and that’s why Anor Londo and Gwyn didn’t have to go fight Manus after Artorias was defeated?

I always thought this was true, but I had no idea how much more similarities there are

Its surprising to hear that Chester was able to steal Artorias' Wolf Ring even though Ciaran was present and escaped that far away to where you found the ring in Darkwood Forest

He probably tried to escape by climbing the mountain and met his end there, but his corpse was too far up for Artorias' companions to reach it

150 hours later and I am just finding out that Oolacile is the Dark Root garden in the past

Chester is the corpse we find in Darkroot Garden holding the Wolf Ring. Probably Alvina NGO handled his ass because he is a grave robber. His bottomles Homeward Bone and HUMANITY stash suggests this. Even his name screams robbery. Maybe Chester was Alvina's first job.

Honestly this makes me miss Chester, I wish From would call back to him. Like they made the guy look totally out of place, gave him a unique moveset and then seemingly ignored that he ever existed past ds1. We get nods to characters like Tarkus and Kirk in Ds3, but nothing for Chester, shame.

Being so familiar with the landscape, this really felt like going back in time, nice video

Chester spoke about being pulled from another time & realm by Manus. Maybe after Manus's death, his dark magic subsided, and Chester went back to his original home Yharnum...

This really puts a new perspective on Alvina and the forest hunters. We technically only see her a little in the chasm of the abyss, but it‘s safe to say she lived in Oolacile. She wants to protect what little remains of her home and preserve the dignity of all the poor souls who fell with Oolacile

Good stuff, if you woulda said the floating humanities turned into the dark wraiths I would started crying. Amazing video by the way.

For some odd reason, the line "Alvina was given a bath" had me in STITCHES. Makes me picture her yowling and hissing as a bunch of Silver Knights try their darndest to get her into a large wooden tub of soapwater, and it absolutely sends my sides into orbit.

It's really depressing to see what happened there because of the abyss

All those drastic displays of the passage of time like the old, dilapidated undead burg which doesn't even exist yet in the dlc raises the question: how old is Sif exactly?

I love the work they did for this even tho most players wouldn’t even notice the slight changes.

most people disagree but I felt the demon ruins in DS3 were handled pretty well - the evolution of the dungeon ecology with the Ghru taking over was done well, zero dialogue that explains it - you just discover it naturally through gameplay

I’m not sure why the community didn’t really seem to agree

in other games the community would have been screaming about “reusing assets for paid DLC” - FromSoft used it to enhance the story, you can see the care in the subtle details they changed
