The thing is my best friend of 10 years starts to feel like a weight on my shoulders. I always knew the relationship was not equal and fair. I always relied on her more, but I thought I could hold on. We met when I was 8 and now I am 18. I finally start to feel like I am the one consistently trying to make our relationship work, holding on to it and I sometimes find no topic to talk about. I’ve always known that we were different people having different pathways in life. At 13 years old, I learnt swimming to take classes with her because she was busy and could only meet me in class; at 14, I went abroad to her country to study for two years after she moved partly for her; and now, I am the person consistent having to reach out to her when she comes back for a trip because she sometimes wouldn’t “invite” me to a hangout. I know I am the type of person who cares about my friends very much and about their emotions and feelings, so I just have a few friends. I started to feel even some of the friends I don’t consider as close know me better and make me feel comfortable, whereas she makes me feel suffocated and sad at times when we are together with her other friends and I have to spend time to heal after spending time with her. She has over 10 close friends and I just wonder if I am ever that important to her anymore. I also enjoy adventure and experiencing life, but she wants a stable life, so I kinda know we can’t be that close anymore. I just can’t seem to let her go because she was my lifeline when I was 8. Without her at that time to be my reason to live and motivation to go on, I might get more depressed and would never have been who I am today. So I just don’t think I can let her go, especially when her mom is best friends with my mom.

Our friendship wet really well for 2 years without any hindrance but it all changed in 10th grade. She isn’t talking to me much as she used to. She doesn’t try to sit with at least once and she is always sitting with that one girl for whole day. Talking with her, going to the washroom with her etc.. i thought because she was sitting closer to that girl than me so she is going there but even when I try to come closer so she would sit with but she doesn’t, she always chose that girl to sit with and I felt so sad. I even asked her to spend some of her time with me and she did it for 2-3 days and went back to that girl but claims me as her best friend. I don’t wanna say it again. I decided to write a letter and give it to her after our farewell about my feelings and try to end our best friendship and just be friends with her. I know it’s not her fault, maybe she felt happy being with that girl and I won’t blame her for that.

I did everything for this person. She was down on her luck. I bought her so many lunches, gave her $, I won a beautiful designer purse but gave it to her. I gave her my prescription meds for migraines because she couldn’t afford it. Now she ignores me. Wtf! I just don’t care anymore. Am I right to feel this way? I think I am! I am done!

Well...I had a really good friend when we were like 2 years into it, but later on as we were surrounded by more people, they found new friends and they would still keep telling that I am closest to them and that she doesn't resonate that much with others, over messages they would be so expressive but on face they would never even say "Hi" unless I initiate it, I conveyed how I felt, and they said they were not good with expressing themself...later on when I got tires of being the only one to invest in our friendship, I tried detaching, but its hard cuz they keep messaging and their words speak louder than their actions, so as I realised that this friendship is only hurting me as I am the only one who cared , I decided to detach..and am still on the way .. gradually it will hurt less with time :")

So it happened in these 2 weeks
So when our winter break ended on 10 January
I've been seeing my friend who's my bestie with another girl who i did not know about cuz shes in a another grade so i noticed her talking to her few times
But then thoses fews turned into long talks and
Basically i saw her spending time with that girl
Then basically the random things on we laughed at become something on i as the only one to laugh
And she looked kinda like she was not even paying attention and after that i felt sad and stopped talking to her for 2-e days straight and then i stryed again but she told me she won't talk to that girl from different grade her words and actions didn't match i wasn't really angry first but when she came to give me snacks of that girls money i lost it i didn't say anything bad to her but just left
And yes that fight lasted 2 days or 3 idk but yes today i offered her my pasta and she ate it
I asked her if we could talk after school but her that friend came and i just told her i wanyed to talk to her she looked like she wanted to leave and like i was forcing her so def i kept the talk short and let her leave
And yes she texted me in the evening today and i cried and yes she asked me if I'll be at school tmrw i said no she asked why? I said bcz my mood isn't mooding and i feel like crying for no reason but yes i am not gonna tell her it was bcz of her

I’ve seen a lot of comments saying that the worst thing that can happen is when a best friend stops talking to you. As someone who’s been through that before, AND someone who’s best friend started lying to me and a girl I was interested in, then sabotaging my relationship with her over the phone despite never having met her, I can safely say there are worse things than having a best friend stop talking to you.
