I have a gen2 TSI 2.0. I want to build it and the goal is to reach 700whp, but since there is now a port injected manifold I can get for it, will the gen2 still have limitations? Or will it be able to withstand the power with forged internals, 7164, direct and port injected, and 93 oct?

Bro you all have a pic of the 2.5 on the title pic but you all don’t even talk about it I want to hear more about the 2.5’s limiting factors and we’ll just pros and cons for someone looking to build one past Intergrated Enginearing’s stage 2 tune and intake. I would like some info on these motors since there is hardly none.

I’ve only ever drove super old vw engines and the newest one. 73 super beetle with barely any power at all. A vr6 in a 95 Jetta, then the 2.0 tsi gen 3. It’s nice to know the current 2.0 can be beefed up like crazy. Be insane to see how the atlas drove then. I wanted the v6 initially. just the way it drove around the mountains with all the weight it’s carrying made it drive worse than the 2.0 turbo. I guess if you live in some flat place at sea level it’s the better engine.

Honda did the same; so basically we all should have the exhaust coming put one end to spook that turbo…. But I do believe since honda went 2.0 n 2.4 n watching those engine skyrocket in power. Older 1.8 should go that route.

Why would you want a black painted engine block? Wouldn’t you want something light colored so you could see potential fluid leaks better????

At the end you said you’d rather have the 2.5 over the 1.8t or VR6. As someone who owns a mk6 Jetta 2.5 I’d love to see a vid where you deep dive into why. I’ve seen a lot of chatter on the interballz about how it’s not worth it to boost it. But damn I love the sound of my engine above 4k rpm’s.

Best most fun vw engine-2.5l 5cylinder!!!
Best efficiency/performance/reliability/ease/cost-hands down ea888/1.8 and 2.0. Zero question.

Performance/fun factor is hands down the 5cylinder tho

Power/power/power though hands down 3.0 super

I really like the vr5 in my bora. The low down torque and the vtec-like shift at 4000 rpms when the intake switch resonance, and then the sound 👌🙂
Would really like to see what a bigger cam would do to that engine.

I started writing this before you panned over to the 2.5 which was going to be my choice. I recently drove a 2018 RS3 on a long trip and was really impressed!!! I love the way an I5 sounds so much more than an I4 (I have a Volvo turbo I5). I would really like to see a build starting with a VW I5 block & then seeing what can be done with that. From what I read (IDK how accurate this is..) the VW & Audi blocks are pretty similar or basically the same it's just the upper end of the engine (and turbo obviously) that is so different. I think I was even told the cranks on the VW 2.5 is forged & is just as capable as the Audi crank.

It would be really interesting to see a turbo build of the VW 2.5 where you cover the differences between a stock VW engine & stock Audi engine & what each is capable of.

Another idea would be be similar to the above but working with the VW 3.2 & the Audi 3.2 especially with the prices of the Audi 3.2 vehicles.

Then there are a ton of options if you open the door to Porsche & their engines/parts which I would also love to see!! With the old Cayennes being relatively inexpensive (IDK about engines & parts) we could see some nice 3.2 & 3.6 VR builds. I've driven some of the V8 & V8 turbo's in the older models & was really impressed & IDK if there are any VW where these would fit besides maybe a Toureg & newer Tiguan (which I wouldn't turn my head from).

The Audi supercharged V6 would be interesting as these were used in the B8 S4 & C6 A6, Q5, SQ5, Q7, etc & the price on these is very obtainable now & we get the continuation of this engine as the turbo charged model in the later years of many of the above models. These tune nicely & are pretty robust from stock (I've been told) & I think Porsche has used the block as well in their SUV's even if slightly debored at times. I also found a lot of non-VAG parts that can work with many of these models everything from pulleys, intercooler upgrades to suspension & brakes - many available from GM vehicles (I found that good used parts available for about 1/5 the price of new aftermarket parts for VAG vehicles - so some of the builds could be very economical).

I listed the above in order of what I'd like to see in a project car down to the bottom where I think these would make affordable daily drivers that are very tuneable in stock form but can also produce some very respectable numbers with a more thorough build. I'm guessing you don't do much supercharge builds other than the G60 but for a

I currently have a 99.5 12v VR6 GTI (5sp) which I don't know what I want to do with as it seems like a nice project car but I really am not a fan of FWD & would really like to find the 6sp manual from the 25th anniversary edition.

i heard that modern 1.4/1.5 engines tune pretty good too (mk7 for example) only downside is you cant get aftermarket clutch for manual mk7 golf for example and manual transmission itself...what i could find online a guy said that he lost 3rd gear only after making 400 or 450nm i think and 15k km...sooo stage 2 still shouldnt be a problem i think just go easy on the clutch and engine should handle it without a problem
