Luck sadly doesn't effect Critical Rate, Dodge Rate, Hit Chance, or anything like that in MV.
Luck only effects the chance of States (such as poison) hitting or missing, and it is hardly noticeable (You need 100s more than the target to even notice it).
This makes it basically worthless by default, however this also makes it an amazing blank stat to do whatever you want with. Since you can make skills use whatever formulas you want it is simple enough to make Luck something actually useful. I tend to make it the 'Healing Magic Power' stat. Just be sure and tell players that you did something with it, because a lot of long time players know that Luck is worthless.
I usually have a hard time following tutorials cuz my attention span isnt the best, but your videos always keep me engaged and showcase the info on rpgmaker in a not overwhelming and intimidating way hahaha. Thank you for these tutorials!!
ОтветитьIs it possible to have like different chapters when player is different parts of the group, before they meet up and can team up. Like if I have 2 dimensions in my story, where one character is in the main dimension and after a chapter is done the player has to play the other character a while. And so on. I would like that to be possible I think, because my story is a bit like that.

ОтветитьI have a few questions. Say I was making a simulator with RPG Maker. Say I wanted to add a stat of my own or replace existing stats. For example: I'm thinking about adding a stat called "Intelligence," and want to replace M.Attack with that. I would also want to dictate which stats increase after battle or leveling up. How would I do all that? Will this be covered in another video? Also, could I remove stats in any way?

Heyo! I don't know if this a just a misunderstanding of mine, but could you clarify on how I am able to use skills? It seems at the moment I'm only able to use magic, and not skills. The skill I made won't show up. Any help would be appreciated!
ОтветитьHaving a pretty big problem with a game, and nothing seems to be helping. So, I feel like I have the classes and enemy damage for an early enemy set fine.... But while the enemy does good damage to my characters when they're at level 1, as SOON as my characters hit level 2, they become invulnerable and don't receive ANY damage anymore, even though their defense stat ONLY went up by 1 or 2 points. Why are my characters suddenly invulnerable from all damage after just going up ONE level even though their stats didn't go up nearly that much from it? I've tried to alter the class defense, i've tried to change the enemy's amount of damage done, but nothing helps.

ОтветитьThis was a little more helpful than the MV in-game tutorial, but I still am hoping for a better breakdown of the stat interactions, and why the formulas are set up the way they are - for example, in the formula shown, why is it x4 and x2 specifically - why not x4 and x4? This is the stuff I'm still trying to understand.

ОтветитьI never had a clear breakdown of the stats before - I understood several intuitively, but not Luck. Thank you for going over them. I realize full well they all make perfect sense when you understand them, but a flawed understanding can disrupt the design process.

Because in my homebrew game all characters have 10 Stats: STR, CON, AGI, DEX, WIL, INT, PIE, EMP, APP, and LUC...
Hey so my character isn't affecting the battles at all and I've spent hours trying to figure it out. His guarding does nothing, his attacks do nothing, and yet the enemy does, so basically he just stands there and takes it. He can escape, but literally nothing else. Can you help?

My current basic 'attack skill' formula is not producing the numbers I'd expect to see.
I'd like the formula to read: (user ATK * 5) divided by (enemy DEF * 4).
After which, if the numbers are too low, than it will still do at least 1 point of damage.
Current formula:
a.atk * 5 / b.def * 4 >= 1 ? a.atk * 5 / b.def * 4 : 1

I tried implementing one of my favorite attacks into my game, Heartless Angel, which automatically reduces your HP to 1. However, I found it doesn't work when guarding, as it just takes away half of your health. I tried adding a formula that would ignore defense, (b.def * 0 + b.hp - 1), but this made no difference.
