MYOPIA vs NORMAL vision

Please please PLEASE do one for higher prescriptions! It’s been echoed a lot here, and my experience joins them! I’d love for people to understand what life is like at-9.00.

I have about -10 in my left eye (no one cares about the fraction part at this point) and -4 in my right eye. Doctors wonder how can I walk strait with my glasses on with such a big difference (the size of objects is quite different and the brain needs to adjust for it, with contact lenses this is not a problem). Up until I had -4 and -2 I've been walking around without any glasses. I've been using them only for reading or watching TV and even that not always. The problem stopped progressing some time ago (when I was about 20-25). I frequently think of a laser surgery. I think I'll start with my left eye. If something goes bad it would be less of a loss. I have no coordinated vision between my eyes anyway but fortunately both are active.

I got my glasses at 12 and my vision was -2.00 since like 3rd grade i had no glasses for 3 years and now i can write anything from the board with -2.00 vision because i can guess every word now

I think I have -1.00 or -2.00 thank god am so lucky I only have it in my right eye I need some vitamin D cause sunlight helps with degenerative eye cells amma exercise everyday I think you need sunlight and less screen time to interact with nature and stop rubbing your eyes it enlarges the thing in your name don't remember the name.

From -3.50, life without glasses is a bit difficult. Why is my visual acuity less than 0.1

I have -2.0 in obe eye and -2.25 ib tgw other. They look much worse than thr thumbnail.

Interesting but your uncorrected footage also had near objects just as much out of focus as distant ones. Perhaps it was difficult to arrange this with your camera setup.

As a dude with -1.00, you think your vision is fine until you put your glasses on and realise that you've been living life in 720p for years.

I unfortunately have damage to my left eye and can't see very well out of it and corrective lenses won't work. Sadly I have -3.00 in my "good" eye so I were corrective lenses with a prescription on only one side.

I tend to explain -3 and worse as almost just seeing colours and if you lucky, a light outline

Accurate. Back when I was a teenager who refused to wear my glasses, something between -2.0 and -3.0 was pretty much what I saw all the time. Now I'm about -3.75 and can't imagine going through life without my glasses.

Great video, my vision is currently at -8.50/-9. I need to have my hand a few inches from my face to be able to focus on it properly. However I've noticed I can focus on things a lot closer than other people seem to be able to (I'm not 100% if this is actually the case, this is purely based on conversations I've had with friends about it and sharing our experiences). Does anyone else with myopia find that can focus abnormally close up?

1 thing that is really annoying with a prescription this strong is that a lot of the new cheaper glasses companies only seem to go up/down to +/-6.00. Can anyone recommend a company that offer cheaper glasses for higher prescriptions? Or at least tell me why they all seem to only go to +/-6...

mine is just between -1 and -2 (closer to -1) and yeah i basically cant live in places like these without glasses lol

For the longest time I've been trying to explain my vision in words and with Photoshop-edited images as someone with -2. This is the perfect example - the distortion with an actual lens replicates the level of detail based on distance.

im at -8 right now and anything that isnt a few inches in front of me is basically unrecognizable

-4 in both eyes. It gets worse by 0.25 every year. So when im 40 i will have -9.75 eyes.

I don't know exactly how to read my perscription but it says I'm -2.25 sph in my right eye and -1.25 sph in my left eye. So I would say I'm pretty decently nearsighted. My eye doctor told me I have built in reading glasses because I can see up close really well, but on the other hand I have a lot of trouble reading things far away, which made things difficult in school or at fast food joints when reading things far away. I'm also told that I am legally not allowed to drive without glasses so uh haha. When I first put on glasses I was actually so shocked cause it was like looking into another world. Like, I could actually see details?? Before trees were just fuzzy looking but with glasses I can actually make out each leaf. So whenever I wear my glasses I can keep myself entertained by looking at details.

As my eyes currently are anything that's more than 3 inches from my eyes becomes progressively more messed up to the point where I can barley make put that my dresser on the other side of my room has handles on it

I was -3 diopters when I first got glasses. I had lived with bad vision all my life, so I didn’t realize how bad my vision was compared to others. But as I got older I was always walking into things like corners, doors frames, chairs, you name it, I walked into it. I always had bruises. I went to the ophthalmologist, told me that my amblyopia returned. Then I went to an optometrist, was told I have myopia, astigmatism, amblyopia, Anisometropia and something else. When I got my glasses prescription, I took it to the glasses people to pick out glasses at Costco and the man serving me looked at my prescription and said out loud for everyone in the store to hear “ you can’t see well at all can you?” A lot of people shopping turned around to see who the half blind woman was. I told him, “ it’s a good thing I can’t see you clearly, because I have a healthy right hook” and walked off with my prescription. I was -4 diopters and now I need a new prescription again.

I have -1.00 vision in one eye and -0.50 vision in the other eye. While this not seem like much, let me tell you, it’s hard to read the board in class, and even identify teammates when playing sports. When I got contacts, it was life changing, even though my prescription is quite light. Great job! I was quite intrigued by this video, as I have this vision and you did a wonderful job showing what it would look like.

This is pretty damn accurate. I'm mildly myopic, with -1 and a slight astigmatism in one eye and -1.25 in the other eye. I must say it looks fairly odd to see on a screen exactly how I see the world.

I'm fairly sure I developed myopia when I was 10, given that my eye test the previous year showed I had perfect vision then. I was sitting only halfway down the classroom and I couldn't read the slightly smaller writing on the board, I had to ask the person sitting next to me what it said. I wore my new glasses, when I got them, like anyone normally would with new glasses, but at my next appointment a year later I was told that wearing my glasses all the time would cause my vision to deteriorate. So, I stopped wearing them except when I needed to. This ended up meaning "sometimes in class, and also at the cinema, but basically never other than that." When I started secondary school I picked seats relatively far forward in the classroom so I wouldn't need to dig my glasses out of my bag, and thus I stopped wearing them pretty much entirely. It was only when I went to college that I figured I'd need them again, for the huge lecture theatres I knew I'd have my classes in and also because I was having issues seeing the jumbers on the buses, which was annoyinggiven that thats how I would be commuting. When I went to have my eyes checked again, given that it had been six years, I was told that while constantly wearing my glasses could have technically caused my vision to deteriorate, if it even ended up happening it would be barely more than what had happened naturally, and at this point the danger had passed. So I went to college wearing my glasses every time I set foot outside the front door and haven't changed my habits since.

I am -1 and never even knew until a few days ago. My eye doctor said “this is what things look like with the lenses… and without”. Absolutely blew my mind away as I never knew my vision was worse than it was supposed to be and with my glasses I catch myself taking them on and off and just appreciating how clear everything looks. I feel like I just updated my graphics in a video game as sad as that sounds. It’s crazy how I went 16 years of my life and just know saw the world in full clearness. 😮

I have a weird case in a way mine is -2.00 but I have ocular albinism with my glasses I can only see 20/70 with my glassesI can't read menus are anything fair. I would able to see the apple logo but you pointed out the mac headphones i would never see it. Itll be just a blur. The glasses ate to help to see more clear

I notice something, is when I put glasses I see better and clearer and colors more clear(day, or night), but from your video, normally that apple logo and from that distance at day, I can see it clear with no blur at all, but the problem is at night, then I see the blur, at night, at normal lights, you may walk beside me (1.5 meter), I can't see your face clear at all, but at day, I can see your face very clear even if it's 7 meters.
