OnePlus Open is Amazing: Should I Ditch My iPhone 15 Pro Max?

As an Apple slave o admit that the one plus is appealing and I hope that Apple will come up with a similar device that also supports Apple Pencil

I prefer colours from the one plus it’s less processed than the iPhone

If you prefer the under screen fingerprint reader then its going to require two sensors for both screen, maybe you just dont know how to use it, other reviewers praise it.

I don't know why I haven't thought about this before, but this makes me want a foldable iPhone with support for the pencil!

One thing worth adding: if you're the kind of the user who uses a case, this would be your first phone without a case, because of the design. Good luck if you drop your phone.

i'm surprised that macrumours is covering an android but then again, i don't really pay attention to this channel so this could be a normal thing. i'm happy to see some unbias reviews. ironically, from a channel aimed at apple stuff. kudos. I'm also glad that there is some form of competition in the fold section. I still can't justify the price for myself to get any of them but i like that it exists.

Pictures on the iphone is better. these china brand phones love to lighten skin color so much. It looks so unnatural.

I cannot stand plastic screens and creases. It’s a horrible trade-off for a foldable. Apple needs to make a foldable with 2 separate glass screens. (The inner bezels can be EXTREMELY thin as they will be protected when closed and also protected when open because it’s the center point. I’d gladly have the screens split for double glass.

OMG why did they RUIN that beautiful screen with a punch hole? Fold 5 with below display camera is perfect!
If you NEED a better selfie cam there's one on the cover screen or better yet use the main camera which is something you cannot do on any candy bar...

Can this do UHD 60FPS in HDR? Because not having this is a dealbreaker for me (yes, Pixel 8 Pro I'm calling you out!).

No wireless charging is a bummer too but not necessarily a deal breaker.

But non hunting AF in low light (video) is a MUST these days...

iPhone 15 Pro Max is the best for me so far and I'm pretty satisfied with my Fold 5. Its audio capture for video is actually better than the iPhone 14 Pro Max (haven't had the 15 Pro Max in stormy weather yet) as its AGC isn't as crushing with impulse noise. I like to capture nocturnal thunderstorms so this is important. As is proper IP rating which I understand the Open IS but NOT dust proof. My other folds (Flip 3, Fold 3, Fold 4) are NOT dust proof either and all have survived hard days on a ranch on a UTV/Tractor where they were COVERED in dust so there's that.

Oneplus Open and Oppo Find N3 are the same phone and they are from the same parents company. So technically OnePlus have an idea of how to make a pretty good foldable phone. OPPO Find N3 for the East and Oneplus Open for the West.

Good phone if you want the CCP to spy on you

Do not know if I would ever move to a fold smartphone. Do not see the need for me. Think it is a personal choice for each person.

This is the best form factor Samsung needs to steer away to this form factor The pixel form factor is not so good All Samsung is to do is make the outer display just like the one on one plus and Samsung is the winner just because you got a complete ecosystem with the best software experience in Android world and I'll argue it's better than IOS

Actually the first company that made a gapless design was OPPO before Samsung and google and in terms of technology OPPO is much more ahead of the others

The deal breaker is android & google. I enjoy IOS and the integration it provides. And I really appreciate no Google products on my phone.

Well, you've got to try out the Honor Magic v2 - atleast phhysically speaking (and hardware as well to a great extent), it blows every foldable phone out there out of the water.

It's all just preference this phone has It's share of complaints as well...These small details don't matter to everyone, I have a Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the tall screen doesn't bother at all...I think this is a good phone and have no quarrel about it,there are however so many channels that always want to label a new phone the new Samsung killer or the new IPhone killer,it just won't happen and believe there are mostly biased people that do reviews...People should by what they want and enjoy the product the average consumer isn't utilizing not even half of the features and people go overboard trying with explaining what they like and don't like ,it's really not that serious besides the day that Apple decide to make a foldable phone people will overlook whatever flaws that the phone will have and yes it will be a lot of bias just because it's Apple 🍎...Either way people should by what they want it's their money and no matter how great of a device a company produces their will always be many knocking it simply because they prefer a different brand...

Are software updates controlled by the carrier for this phone or is it more like Pixel where you get updates as Google provides them?

Personally, I wouldn't stray outside the Apple ecosystem due to data privacy. I absolutely wouldn't install TikTok on any device, either.

Does anyone actually feel a need for a square form factor? I have no desire for a square screen, as cool as it is that they were able to design this technology as well as they have here.

It's unbelievable 3 trillions brand makes the worst optical zoom from all of the brands. I cropped both and iPhones takes blurred photos.

seeing someone whos entire brand is apple and me being someone who switched off apple a while ago and has learned to hate them, I think this is confirmation I needed that I should indeed get this phone

It's night and day, the One+ is far superior in every way, Apple has not innovated for a very long time, such a shame as at one time everyone looked to them for the next big thing, they need to catch up fast...

Out of stock already in the UK but I would happily switch. Been looking at foldable phones for years now but this is the first one that's definitely got me thinking of buying one (if in stock!)

The only reason to stick with Apple’s ecosystem is the integration of services and potentially its performance per watt.

I’m never switching off iPhone again. My 23 ultra was a very very expensive mistake. It’s in the past now
