Here’s my input on Austin after moving here from the Bay Area 5 yrs ago:

Austin lacks real, expansive, natural open spaces. Its mostly artificial here. The hiking trails are laughable. Rocks and bushes and a hand full of small hills.

Dont move here if you like real open spaces for hiking. Seriously.

Coming from bay area I grew up with open spaces everywhere. Breathtaking beauty.

Yeah, its cheaper but its boring AF.
The food is also sub par.

The schools are good.
Weather is unbearable at times.

Try it for yourself and see how you feel after a few years.

Austin traffic is terrible and it doesn't matter what part of town you're at, it is Hell living in Austin. So don't try to make it sound like it's not so bad because I'm sure people across the country already know that by now.

Austin was ruined by the California people back in the mid-90's.

Lessee, traffic sucks, it's hot as Hades, property taxes are through the roof, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a toll road, the state government is like that of Saudi Arabia and corrupt AF to boot, and Austin is nothing but tech bros and hipster douches. Can't think of a reason to move there.
