Prices have pretty much been static for the past 15 years in 🇬🇧. You an buy a half decent van for £10 - 12k
ОтветитьLike the interior.
ОтветитьThat's not a micro bus it's a camper, vws rule learn the rules!!!
ОтветитьI have a 73 😎😎 get one if u want one theyre dope, im working on putting a subaru engine in mine, and build a sweet camper
ОтветитьYou are a disgrace to the car community and do not deserve to have an opinion on a real piece of automotive history
ОтветитьI still remember my step dad's (he was a letter carrier in Oakland, CA) orange T2 VW bus back in the 80's and early 90's untill the rear sliding door flew off one day while we were driving on the freeway... Luckily no one was hurt! 😳 It was more of a yellow orange color but faided and had exactly the same shaggy carpet inside as this! lol. Personally, I like the look of type 1 over type 2 but both are now rarely seen on the road.
My step dad's VW bus wasn't all that strong but it had good high clearance. It was loud, the engine sometimes smoked and he'd have to rev it up for more then 20 minutes on cold mornings and usually at least 10 minutes other times. It would always wake me up early in the morning but I knew it was him leaving for work!
I have had a T2 westfalia for 17 years ..total spent .new exhaust.£300 apart from that nothing..looked
recently at a newer T5 unfortunately due to maintenance costs of the new campers I've decided to stick to the old classic..easy maintenance low cost on parts goes forever if maintained
That colour is actually called “clementine orange” believe it or not lols
ОтветитьLove it! Beautiful bus. Great condition. Fun video.
ОтветитьMine drives quite comphy, not sure what he's on about in the suspension
ОтветитьBro 3rd gear is the ultimate power and I thought the 75 had a 2.0?!?
ОтветитьI disagree my vw kombi doesn't wobble all over the place and it is a lot if fun to drive.
ОтветитьNope. Just called a bus, especially by those that actually own one. 😉
ОтветитьThese are never-ending money pits and not worth the $15k you will pay to just have one. Soon you will put another $15k into it to 'restore it.' I had a '72, a '77, and an '86 Syncro.
ОтветитьThat's not a vanagon. Vanagon is specifically the T3. That's a beautiful T2 Westfalia though.
ОтветитьHow tall are you?
ОтветитьKeep in mind you can now put in a Subaru engine in and have 300 hp in place.
ОтветитьI'm getting tired of old granny's telling me how they lost it in one just like that.
Ответитьmy vw bus is fast i have a dual carb type one engine
ОтветитьIT'S CALLED A BUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьI like its design, but what stops me from buying one is that it doesn't have a crumble zone.
ОтветитьOdd that you had tissues and Dixie cups "dated 1970" when the van itself is a 1975 model.
ОтветитьI don't recall much if any hype over the VW Type 2 and contrary to your claim it's is a whole lot of fun to drive on the road. It also handles much better than you think. A low centre of gravity and four wheel independent suspension give it better cornering ability than it's appearance would suggest.
ОтветитьThis is not a micro bus, rather it’s just a bus
Ответитьwell, obviously they are a cute mom magnet. They could probably teach you a lot about the history of the kombi. 😆 😆 🤣 😂
ОтветитьMy Dad bought a '71 back around 1985 and let me drive it back and forth to college. It cost him $600.00 and it came with a spare engine and lots of extra parts. I drove that thing everywhere...took my buddies to concerts, school every day and even took it on a road trip from Northern New York to Virginia. After I finished with it, he and Mom restored it and eventually sold it for $2,000.00 to a young lady who fell in love with it. Yeah...it was fun...but folks getting 50 grand for them nowadays is absolute insanity!
ОтветитьGlad I had a 59 in 1969. It would do a constant 75 to 80. course I did have to rebuild the motor every other month. Today I a 70 westy. Today I just put 12 K into it's engine. It's $3000 bus and will only go 50 mph WTF ?
ОтветитьEntertaining video although I'm not sure about the speed comment. I've previously owned 5 VW T2's of different years and configurations etc and every one of them could do 65 mph and a bit over easily. Probably just highlighting its slower than most cars but it always surprises me when people say they can't do normal speeds.
ОтветитьMain does 80 mph
ОтветитьThe Vanagon is a different model!
ОтветитьYour just a jerk with a VW Bus. You should sell it and let a real man have it. After 4mins I stop your video (RANTING) Ha Ha
ОтветитьI bought a 79 in 79 for $6000. worth 18,000 today, been rebuilt (has 300,000 miles) and will for 75 all day long. (straight line-level road) . never selling it. Only a VW Bus owner can accurately describe the joy of ownership.
ОтветитьGoing through old videos like these never gets old. This channel really does a great job in both quality of the content and the jokes. Keep it up!
ОтветитьThis might be cool as a 2nd car, but it sucks as your only car. My parents bought a 1973 version new, white instead of orange(which was the only other color it was available in the US that year), and picked it up in Hannover. It was slow, almost impossible to drive in winds, no AC, ugh. It did have front disc brakes which was rare then. Had a 60 hp engine, could cruise at 75 on level ground, no headwinds, and eighty with a strong tail wind. Of course, we had a 55 mph national speed limit because of the oil embargo.
The interior was very similar, the difference being there was a single rearward facing seat where the sink is here, and a combo icebox and pump operated sink where the fridge is here. No external electric hook up, either.
cheers from travelling VW bus (not a van) :)
ОтветитьI went camping in a 75 Westie in college it the one that my dad own and my brother and I decided to fix it up that was is in 2009. It was so much fun I do plan on getting it running again and taking the family on little road trip in it sometime.
ОтветитьAwesome video! Describes driving a bus perfectly. Yes it's slow, yes it handles like a shopping cart, but you cannot help but smile when you're driving one.
ОтветитьWay to go Jake. Maybe you can trade your three Chargers for it and have something useful for a change !
ОтветитьI have 66 bus. Top speed is 50 miles an hour. But love it!!!
ОтветитьI really look forward to your videos. They always put a smile on my face.
ОтветитьToo cool! Always liked those things. Drove one once and it was a hoot. Not fast by any standard but it sure garnered a lot of attention.
ОтветитьOh my these review are getting even more excellent 😁 bro how hasn't top gear hired you yet
ОтветитьI didn't know how to drive a manual back then but I wish I bought the one I looked at to buy 20 years ago in ND.....and ALOT cheaper :\
ОтветитьThis is Classic Top Gear! Love rhis bro!
ОтветитьShaggin" wagon!
ОтветитьGroovy
Ответитьso much want
ОтветитьThat things CLEAN!
