400 Evac'd, dozens RESCUED in this 3-alarm apartment building fire

Lehigh County 911 transmitted the box at 03:00 Friday for the automatic alarm at 1 Maryland Circle in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. Police arrived with heavy smoke showing and people on balconies. Whitehall police and Pennsylvania State Troopers immediately started to evacuate the building.

The second alarm was immediately transmitted and the 3rd alarm shortly after for manpower. This apartment complex is huge and has over 400 residents living in it. Over a dozen people were rescued off balconies.

Short time into the incident, a level 3 mass casualty incident was declared. A LANTA transit bus was dispatched for the residents.

Squrt 38 stretched one hand line to the second floor for a fire in a storage closet above the main entrance. The fire was quickly darkened down but the heavy smoke spread throughout the large 3-story building.
