Good video as always George. My motivation for learning Japanese isn't as high as years back now as I had the chance to visit Japan on a working holiday visa last year and basically blew it as was almost too afraid to talk to people as my Japanese level is like a toddler :( Came home after only 4 months. Had a visa for a year...

I made a Japanese friend recently and I was excited to be able to practice my oral but he happens to speak a completedly different dialect from the standard international Japanese. Where he's from, the conjugating, the sentences structures, and even most of the grammar is radically different. It is difficult, if not impossible to speak in Japanese and understand each other. Luckily he speaks English too. Still... What do I do ?

These short videos are fantastic. Its all those little phrases that come up all the time but you never learn them because you're learning long lists of food/animals/kanji etc

my gf (japanese) just corrected you : 「テストを合格しなかったです」using (so she said) the wrong particle -- should be (apparently) 「テストに合格しなかったです」 -- though please don't shoot the messenger (who has been learning for 4 years, but still can't hold a decent conversation to save his life !!!)

nihon go muzukashi because of the kanji.. (in my opinion)

In this sentence: 私は韓国人の女性が大好きですが、残念ながら結婚しています。How is it clear that it is you who is married, and not the Korean women? Is that all because of the topic marker は after 私?
