The original Dunkirk is 65 years old and still better. I expect more of Chris Nolan.

As accurate as the RAF stuff is here, the film is rubbish for the historical accuracy. Not enough men on the beach. Not enough chaos and turmoil as well as mess on the beach. A spitfire would typically not run out of fuel this quickly either; I've read many autobiographies of early war fighter pilots, as well as going on the Battle of Britain Monument website. I have very rarely read about this happening. Also, some people watch these films and start to believe that this is really how is all happened, not to say its not, but usually people use films like this as a bible of 'historical knowledge'.

He never seemed to lead his shots... at all

Military personnel are often portrayed as the 'god damn you!' shouters. They are, in my experience, just like emergency responders. That is to say, hired for their ability to crush their own panic and think, communicate and act with responsibility and clarity. This is a lovely portrayal.

i never really understood why they didnt react at all to the second 109 strafing Farrier, he just shrugs it off and then forms up with his wingman like a second bandit didnt almoast just shoot him down.

In a frame they are 200 feet high, the next frame they are 10,000... Another frame and they are 300 then 15,000. It's sunny and clear but then all in a sudden they are grazing the top of clouds. The second later they are zero altitude once again in a sunny and clear day. Must be joking...

I love Nolans dedication to not using CGI wherever possible but I am still pissed off he destroyed one of the few Spitfires left in the world for this movie.

Loved everything except not leading the target. Unless the targeting system does some compensation that I’m not aware of.

The BF-109 E3 has two MG/FFM 20 mm cannons, that spit should've went down with that single burst

No cheesy Hollywood stuff. Just great visuals and noise from Nolan’s masterpiece. Our RAF were heroes 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

The planes did the work here. The movie stars took the backseat. Nolan achieved greatness with this sequence.

I especially love how the german fighter just falls in the sea and thats it. No heroic kill music, no screaming -

Also, Fortis leader just dissapearing (probably shot down by the other BF109) feels very real from the perspective of the pilots.

How to forget when Bane was in the RAF during WWII

No unrealistic maneuvers, no unecessary dialogue/talking, no unlimited ammo, just a realistic dogfight.

What a grossly overrated snoozefest

That 109 was done the moment he decided to stick on a spitfires tail, no way he was beating 2 spits in a level turn fight.

Im not a pilot but that 109 shoulve taken the 1st kill and left while he still had the element of surprise, then maybe returned to try for another before running away again. The spitfire at least in instantaneous turn, and energy retention in a turn was superior to the bf109s

The fighting was much faster AND higher and with more planes. Planes were in the sights, especially fighters for only just a few seconds and that is where victory was won or lost.

After this and the fight with the bomber, I'm reminded as to just how good these aerial sequences were.

dunkirk was a bad movie. this is the only good parts in it. the other parts were terrible
