Animaker Review 2023: Explainer Expert's Opinion

This is a service that I am considering using but I don't think that it's a fair review if you don't watch any of the tutorials. I did the same thing you did and got a little frustrated and then I decided to watch their tutorials which are pretty short and well put together. Jumping in without knowing what you are doing actually ends up costing you more time in the long run.

Nice tutorial, I tried it, and I am a rookie it worked for me. I think Powtoon was confusing.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! It is of very poor quality. The producer of this product has a VERY poor record with WARRIOR PLUS and his other products have a 1 1/2 and 2 start ratings which say it all. PLUS they do NOT honour their GUARANTEE>>>> and refuse to refund!! You have been warned, don't touch it with a bargepole!!

What is your favorite animator tool??

Is there not a way to change a facial expression during a scene without changing to another scene? Can't figure out how to do that. Great video!

What software did you use to record your video? Looking for 1 that have a circle for the camera view.

Man, I got to say that animaker does indeed have some cool features, yet it is relatively unstable to use. I've been working on a small animation project requested by my department, and I've encountered the same problems as you did, like the "objects disappearing" and "switched up scene" bugs. Adding on to that, I've even encounter a bug where the site just randomly crash into a white screen with some codes showing.
Much to my interest, I've been trying to find the reason why these were constantly happening, yet I failed and can only speculate that bugs and errors might occur more frequently regarding to content abundance and the length/size of your inserted music/sound track and stuff, or may occur abruptly due to connection issues. Fortunately I found that there is a ''Lock" function, which appears in the tool box when right clicking on your items; I've locked every single items in my video and it was not affected by subsequent bugs (yet). All in all, is the animaker a creative tool to use? Yes; but would I recommend? Considering the stability of the stie, NO.

you should check out the view function once you make an animation! it breaks constantly, i've yet to get through a ten minute animation without something in it breaking at least once.

I just tried and it utterly sucks.
it didn't add subtitles. It didnt' let me download videos. It didn't let me download subtitle files it "generated"...
It didn't do an absolutely nothing of the only things he was supposed to do.

Nice product, i recommend it if you have time to lose and you want to get mad at useless programmers. And I'm a programmer myself

Thanks for your video. I have created three eLearning videos with Animaker, and this is what i have learned so far:
[1] Although the address conveniently shows a California location, most of the technical people who trouble-shoot videos live in India. So about 80% of the time any show-stopper issue you encounter will take over-night to be resolved. I have had issues take five days to be resolved.
[2] Animaker does not classify its props, such as contemporary, business friendly, or white-board. The props have at least 8 different total styles, of which I can only use one. So, when I search on a prop, at least 80% of the ones that show up are actually unusable, which means time lost.
[3] The latency you encountered is constant. Sometimes you click the play button and it takes 3 seconds to respond. The latency is particularly annoying when you are trying to create actions that must be precisely timed to the voice-over.
[4] There is no user forum the user can go to for immediate answers to questions. Most of the time you have to wait over-night to get a question answered.
[5] The "Search" feature for character actions is wretched. If you are viewing all of the character actions and you use one that has a two-word name, you can use either word or both words to search for it next time, and those words might not be tagged for the search engine, which means the action does not show up.
[6] There is an "Edit last saved" checkmark on the upper boarder of the window, which is always "ok" (the icon never changes). However, if you look at History, Animaker saves versions every 3 to 5 minutes, not constantly like the icon would have you believe. (You can't do a forced "Save" on the project like you can in Vyond.)
[7] You cannot see the wave forms of the audio file while you are editing in the Scene Timeline view (the view that shows you the timing location of the character actions). So, getting the timing of the actions precise phrase-by-phrase is very difficult, especially with latency issue [3] going on at the same time.
[8] When you are looking a dozens or hundreds of props, there is no icon to indicate whether the prop is animated or static.
That said, Animaker is better than Vyond in two ways:
[1] You can create a dozen actions in one scene if you want to. (Although timing the actions is difficult due to [3] and [7] above.) This means you can have a few sentences in one scene, with plenty of character animations throughout.
[2] You can create custom-formatted subtitles directly in the tool, and publish the subtitled video to MP4. (You can also export the .srt caption file, like Vyond.)

Hahah I had the same slow internet warning throughout. My internet was just fine.
I've been trying to figure out Animaker and still have no idea what I am doing. I really like the end results for complete animations I have seen, but how to get there... I still have no idea.
Especially those subtle movements. I'll have to keep playing with it, but I do wish it wasn't so damn confusing!

When you start using Animaker it starts off great. I then purchased a one-month basic subscription for my daughter to try out the features. Once I removed the auto-payment from my payment provider the fun started: The downloads were wrongly calculated; excuses blaming extra options etc etc until they finally manipulated and destroyed the last project much to my daughter's disgust and dismay. Beware of their scamming ways to lure you into paying for a year. Choose another option!

Thanks for the video. I realy like the AI voices on Animaker and the ability to add gaps and emphasise words etc. Also enjoying the autosubtitle generator.

Thanks for the detailed review video. I started using animaker after your review and I too find it little difficult in understanding at initial stage but there is a tutorial to understand each component. It is really suberb product easy to create videos with animations. Cool product. I have used lip sync for the character and lip synced to the character perfectly. There are too many awesome features too. I would like to recommend this product to others.

Nice informative review. I just came across Steve AI which seems to be a more streamline/simplified version. It's also a bit janky at times but still you get a decent finished video pretty quickly so seems good for one offs if you are not creating more detailed videos a lot of the time.

I was feeling your pain! Animaker's user interface is very non-intuitive. I do like the idea of each item having it's own timeline but it's very clunky to use.

The last time I used Animaker I noticed that it lacked the "continue scene" function that Vyond has. This made it extremely difficult to produce a good animation. Thank you Rued! Love your videos!
