Thank you i have a shower & bathtub !
ОтветитьThank you so much for these wonderful videos as well as your incredibly positive attitude! You are a truly inspiring person proving a good productive life is possible after traumatic amputation.. you have turned an overwhelming negative into a possible positive for so many.. seeing someone who is actually an amputee demonstrate in a video is the most encouraging and kindest act.. you are to be commended and thanked each time an amputee and those who love them try to take a shower.. thank you!💙💙🌹💙💙
ОтветитьLove the kitty cat...she adds a lot of appeal to this video.
ОтветитьMy daughter's father in law is a vet, he's a very big man, weight and height, he in the past had both knee replacements,. And just recently had his left foot amputated. He has had the family help him shower but it's a struggle. He fell on the bathroom floor twice. He refuses help from an outside care giver. He's got a very small bathroom, just wondering if those walk in tubs with a sealed door would be better.
It's a shame he only got 3 months in rehab to try and learn to cope with not having a foot, let alone his weak knees and being a robust man .
I'm bka and leave my " leg" on- there are plastic bags made to cover foot and prosthesis that I use- then I dry off remove the bag and leg - clean my stump - my leg and get dressed. I have taped on trash bags also.
ОтветитьYour cat is sooo fucking adorable.
ОтветитьMy question is what do you do when you go to a hotel to take a shower thank you
ОтветитьI have my left leg amputated and the prosthetic does not fit well is to its longer then the other my leg I try to tell the the person that made the make and they told me that is fine but it's not I feel the difference to start off with I wasn't an unbalanced 66 year old lady using a walker to just walk with two legs now I can't even walk with this prosthetic cuz it doesn't fit right I don't know how to do it I keep telling him and you won't listen to me so please let me know what I could do cuz I need to take a shower and I'm afraid I fell one time and my brain started bleeding from the bump that I got but Natalie it stopped and I didn't have to have brain surgery on it but I'm so scared now I can't hop like a lot of people do in these videos so can you help me know how to get into a shower with the sliding door I would really love your help thank you so much
ОтветитьBut bringing a prosthetic into your humid washroom does not harm or wearout your prosthetic? My bro uses crutches at home. Would seem rather uncomfortable to be wearing a prosthetic so long (all day)...but when you're an adult and got stuff to do around the house, I guess that makes sense. Anyways, thanks for the video!
ОтветитьYeah this is a bummer and I unfortunately take less showers because of it, I use the shower chair in a bathtub myself but luckily I have it mastered now. I wonder if we amputees can remember what it was like to have 2 feet again, the quick showers, getting out of bed fast, for me it is the sports I miss. A lot of people will tell you you can be just as good at sports with your prosthesis, but I have tried and it is a handicap in fast moving sports like tennis.
You are lucky to be a left foot amputee, I am a right foot amputee and it affects my driving, a clutch is practically impossible for a right foot amputee. Also rent a cars would require a portable left foot accelerator adapter and I have never tried one so I cannot say but there is the possibility of the thing sliding around and causing problems. I do have 12 years without a ticket or accident with my bolt in left foot accelerator adapter and I was a food deliverer for 3 years.
Love your Himalayan. I had 2. They are awesome. My female made it to 22 and her son made it to 21. Miss them very much. Love your biceps
ОтветитьDoes your cat like to drink water out of the bath faucet?
ОтветитьChristina, I love your videos. I am a recent amputee (September 2018), in your videos I find future and current experiences of my new life as an amputee.
Another day I will tell my experience. Greetings from Chile!
I’m so thankful for this video as it gives me more information for my patients. I want them to be as comfortable as possible♥️💙♥️
ОтветитьYou look like me ... in the bathroom :D but my stump is 1/3 of yours :( hi from italy!
ОтветитьThis method would not work for an above knee amputee unless they have extremely long strong upper body strength.
ОтветитьI loved this video!!!!!!!!!!! Extra points for including your cat and extra extra points for the very convincing bathing demonstration :)
My wife just became an amputee and I am in process of making some modifications to our bathroom - Your vid was simple and super helpful!! THANKS!
I use crutchs when i shower. And have installed solid mounted wall handles to help me get out of the shower. Below knee amp. A chair will be a must as i age.
ОтветитьHow do u get out of the bath? Lol only cause I’m a left bk amputee with no wet room and live alone, I’d love to take a bath but I’m scared I’ll get stuck
ОтветитьThese videos are very informative and I'm personal trying to learn what I can as a student, so I can be of better service as a PTA.
ОтветитьThe cat owns the bathroom right?
ОтветитьOne of several ways I do it is to wear my prosthesis while getting in the tub. Then i take it off to shower. Afterwards I put it back on and get out of the tub.
ОтветитьYou're hilarious
ОтветитьWhat does the OT stand for in AmputeeOT?
ОтветитьThis video helped me, right BKA 4 Aug 2016.. i am watching all your videos. Thank You
ОтветитьYou always give excellent, practical advice in your vids. I've been an AK amp for 42 years. At home, I sit down on a bath mat in the tub and use a hand-held shower wand. When we renovate, I'm thinking of getting a walk-in shower and chair, like you showed. I think that's the safer and easier way, especially for older amps. When I'm in a hotel room for business travel or vacation, I usually have to stand precariously on a face cloth or hand towel -- risky. I try to book hotels that have safety hand-rails in the bath. I don't keep my prosthesis or liner in the bathroom because of the humidity, so I hop carefully on towels. And yes, I did slip on a wet tile floor once and got really bruised and sprained my arm.
ОтветитьWhat do you do when you travel? Like in hotel showers/baths.
ОтветитьI am going to be having a below knee amputation soon and this helped me to determine what kind of shower chair I need. Thank you.
ОтветитьI have a roll in shower but myleg is held on by big waist straps.
ОтветитьYour cat thinks you are crazy LOL
ОтветитьI had my left leg amputated below the knee. I have a shower chair in my bathtub, with two of its legs inside the tub and two legs out side of the tub. I also have a knee scooter. I take off my leg in the bedroom, and then ride my knee scooter to the bathroom. It is easy to transfer myself from the scooter to the shower seat. I can even stand up in the shower by resting my knee on the shower seat. The knee scooter also comes in handy when I need to get up to go to the bathroom at night. I have adjusted to life with only one leg. Life is not as impossible as I thought it might be.
ОтветитьIs it strange that I watch this if I'm not an amputee?
ОтветитьTwo garbage bags, tape one then the other, it provides a double seal in case the first bag leaks over the prosthetic saves having to modify your shower, it is now my standard shower routine. It means bags over the leg shoe and all.
ОтветитьI am soon to have my right foot amputated. Yes I am a little scared. Your videos have helped me a lot. My question is what about driving? Will I need to have my car modified, I am good with left foot driving. Can your prosthetic work like a foot? Thanks again.
Ответитьi sit on bottom of tub i just hope no one peed while taking there shower like a.b. do sometimes
Ответитьi have cerebral palsy and only have use of one of my legs and i have a bath lift and a chair on the outside of the bath and to get out i have to lower myself backwards onto the chair and as it is lower than the side of the bath it is quite scary.
ОтветитьYou have a great, large bathroom set-up with ledges and walk-in shower. It's hard when you have a little tub and have to use a transfer bench. Strength is an issue and age/weight as well.
ОтветитьMy goodness your kitty cat. I can't even.
Ответитьiam a soon to be aputee and i enjoyed the shower and tub thing and i do like all your videos and you wore some makeup in one or two videos and you really looked nice, thats a compliment to you.i love emily noels makeup tutorials, thanks again
ОтветитьI have a question
What would be a proper therapeutic exercises to restore my muscles because of drop foot? An exercise I hear, to restore the memory of the muscle to stay up
Please it would really help with my situation as a left below knee amputee as far as walking and gaining more confidence in my balance, I walk with a brace with my right foot so in reality looks like I have two prosthetics
Thank you
I have a leg that is made for the shower.
ОтветитьI have no legs and both of my legs are below knees and I always use bathtub for so many years ever since I was seven. So I have no problem at all.
ОтветитьHi Kristina i build prosthetic feet for emotis for a living and came across your videos i think you are doing a great thing helping other amputees and non aputees help understand life with a prosthetic better. thank you for the great work you are doing.
Ответитьhola soy ampmuneca me gusta como presentas tus videos ,igual entro en la ducha me faltan las dos piernas y todo hago con mis brazos me muevo con facilidad ,me gusta tu gato , saludos
ОтветитьI stand on just my good foot in the shower. Haven't fallen.. in 37 years L:)
ОтветитьYour house is super nice.
ОтветитьWhat if you're not so flexible and able to hop into the tub like that? Strength is an issue.
ОтветитьSame concepts can be made with a person who has broken their leg. I used a bench for two months before I dared put weight on my foot on a slippery surface.
ОтветитьWhat a beautiful spirit, you are the best of the best! Life is a little sweeter because of your positivity and the gift you give others by sharing your journey. Hugs and love, please don't ever change a thing. ❤️ love, a nursing student in NC
