If you're about to get rear ended, would it be easier on your body to hold the brake or release the brake. What are the g load differences?

I'm something of a rear end tester myself.

It would be very interesting for the IIHS to create a genuine rear end crash test. 40 MPH, just like the frontal crash tests.

希望能增加實車撞擊測試後座也放置假人查看受傷程度,以後方40%以時速48km/h,採用4200磅&100%全寬撞擊以時速38km/hr採用3300磅的測試車臺測試車輛安全性。
Hopefully the IIHS can increase the real car crash test rear seat also placed dummy to see the degree of injury to the rear 40% at 48km/h, using 4200 pounds & 100% full-width crash at 38km/hr using 3300 pounds of the test platform to test the safety of the vehicle.

It's amazing how many headrests on older cars are not adequate enough for rear-end protection.
