Prinz Eugen. A legendary commander, one I didn't know enough about.
I know a lot about the WW2 heavy cruiser named after him - a legendary lucky ship with an amazing reputation.
A fitting name for an awesome ship as she overcame the odds just like her namesake.

Why Eugen wasnt so glorified? Cause he stole valor of Sava Tekelija for one example..but austrian politics...

Pince Eugene's baptism of fire was at the Battle of Vienna in 1683.

In 1683 the Ottoman Empire had passed its zenith and was already in decay. The Ottoman economy / budget was based on expansion. But after 1566, the Ottoman Empire couldn't gain many valuable areas. And without French money, they hadn't been able to finance the second siege of Vienna.

"To relive the city from the Ottoman yoke", despite the fact that you should not use any judgmental remarks in history, at least in an Ottoman city you could practise any religious faith you wish. In the Habsburgian city, you have the free choice of being a Catholic or have a talk with the Inquisition. 🙄

This siege is copy of Siege of Vienna 3 years earlier:

Siege of Vienna(1683):
Ottoman Army: 120.000
Defenders: 16.000
Result: City is almost captured after bloody 60 days of siege. Relief army saved the city.

Siege of Buda (1686)
Crusader Army: 100.000
Defenders: 13.000
Result: City is captured after 82 days of siege. Weak relief army was defeated during the siege.
