Wow, I remember I was in Frankfurt, Germany when this Malware was released, this was not May 2000, in fact it happened in Feb/March 2000.

That's all it did? Today's ransomware and hacks are so much worse.

I was one of those millions of users who lost all of his personal files to this virus. It very much attacked Windows 98SE. I didn't have an email client for it to send itself. I got it over Napster.

I worked for CompuServe (I wouldn't mention their name except CS doesn't exist anymore) and was the first person who noticed the attack at our company, it hit us at something like 7 in the morning. First thing I saw was something like 5 emails hit my mailbox with the subject of ILoveYou and I knew something was up right away. Stood up from my cube and said we have a virus loose without opening any of the emails.. I looked in a file share that we all worked in and literally watched entire directories of files get replaced by the vb script in the blink of an eye because I had file extensions turned on. Our AV protection didn't detect it until later in the day after McAfee did an emergency update for us. It took something like 2 days to rid the virus from our network and in the meantime we couldn't do any content updates. Our Director (who had to be called in) was sweating bullets because our group was the team that built new content for the users and we all got about a ay and a half off while the engineers worked with MacAfee.

At first I thought NationSquid was some corporate type channel like WatchMojo but nah it’s this dude giving great info about stuff, rather than an “educational” channel, and not just an internet documentation channel.
