You did forget to mention that with FreeTime, you can also have a secondary aspirations, along with aspiration/work/needs perks that can further flesh out personalities. Also, with FreeTime's hobby system, there are secret lots that can be visited, whereby sims can meet other sims with their hobby interests (and you can get invites to multiple hobby lots).

Beginning with OFB, sims could earn badges (most expansuons thereafter offer bew ones), which play an even bigger role in FreeTime.

Oh, while the occults might not be a favorite for the series (depending on one's subjective opinions), you can have hybrid occults. The combinations make for some interesting and challenging gameplay (try playing with a vampire/plantsim hybrid).

One would think that Sims 3 or Sims 4 would have the best gameplay mechanics and graphic design choices, but I disagree. You touched on the one aspect, Sims 2 has the best genetic system, but it also has the most detailed gameplay actions (i.e. sims actually enter/exit cars, pull out of driveway/garage, etc.), game mechanics (sims will go into cabinets and drawers to pull out cooking utensils, are able to step over small objects on the floor, they also play a full game of chess, moving the pieces accordingly, etc.), game physics (hair and fur on pets move, couch cushions actually move accordingly, while sims sit, lounge, jump, etc., pool physics, hot tub water physics, snow physics, etc.), and my favorite detail is the 4th wall breaking, making it seem like the sims are sentient beings, aware that we are trying to manipulate their actions❣While Sims 3 sims can be made to look the most realistic, and Sims 4 have a higher graphic quality (albeit, a bit cartoonish), without the aforementioned aspects (as well as so many more I haven't mentioned), they cannot compare to the Sims 2 expressions and graphics. Since Sims 2 is nearly a twenty year old game, just a few added mods and CC default replacements, the Sims in Sims 2 are the most aesthetically pleasing (because of the gameplay, game mechanics/logical physics), imo.

So glad that there is still a very active Sims 2 community, because these pixelated characters are so worthy of investing time in❣

I also prefer the babies in sims 2. In sims 4 you cant interact with newborns like in sims2. So boring.

You forgot to add - Better visuals and texture work, more fluid, varied and complex animations and much higher attention to detail. Other than that good video, thanks.🙂

I cannot get into the Sims 4

The sims 2 is so great. Sims 3 is pretty good too. My most time played was Sims 2 but the moddlets are quite cool for Sims 3!

You could make functional fully custom apartments in Sims 3. You just needed to use a debug item. It's a sphere that sets an area as a separate apartment. You could also make your own explorable lots if you had World Adventures. It was amazing.
TS4 is an empty shell and a parody of the franchise. It does not have the TS soul and spirit, and it definitely does not have the TS weird quirks nor the trademark dark humour. It has nothing. Nothing at all.

This makes me so sad I was born in 2000 and I wanted to play Sims three but I was never allowed to because my mom thought it might be too inappropriate and as soon as I became an adult and got a job I bought the Sims four I’m so sad to know that I missed out on so much

Another fun thing: the complete Sims 4 is £800 on Steam. I bought my complete Sims 2, new (close to day of release) for about £300, adjusted for inflation. It was more like £200 or so in 2000-ish money. So you get a better game for just over a third of the price.
And you can make Sims 2 less clunky with good defaults and CC.

I did not know about the cinematic when I first played 2 as they don't pop up if you play on a potato.

Sims 2 was full of small details like using cabinets when cooking and actually enter cars. I am a 90s "kid" so I miss things like landlines and cash registers. I would love a Sims 2 remake, as the game is a little clunky, I have had a hard time returning to Sims 2 & 3 after 4, some of the quality of life changes get hard to play without :(

Always thought Sims 2 was superior to both Sims 3 and 4.

Honestly the only thing ive ever disliked from what ive seem of the sims 2 (not including the coding issues) are the cutscenes... It always seemed so jarring and pulls me out

honestly i’d love a game with the personality of 2, the open world of 3, and the build buy and cas of 4. (create a style would be nice too)

I have a MacBook Air and saw I could buy the Sims 2 complete collection on the App Store which is super tempting. The one thing that bugs me about 2 is how every family ages independently. I don’t want to have to play multitudes of different households just to age up the population and create new generations. Yes, I know I could get 3, but that collection still has to be purchased individually with each pack and still runs super slow with how massive the game is.

Is there anyway to get Sims 2? I've been wanting to play it for a while now, but I don't know how.

The significant factor of this game being so loved even after so many years, is the nostalgia to the 1990s and the 2000s.

SIms 2 was the BEST of all. After that it's Sims 4 for me, i never liked Sims 3. I hated all the bugs, i hated the piggy faces (the sims looked horrible?!) etc... Sims 2 had so much details... so much love in animations, so much everything. It was wonderful.

I love Sims 2 cause I can freely control my character. Not clicking using cursor lol

For The Sims 2, you can use the cheat "sethighestallowedlevel ##" to make a high-rise apartment like you said. (Don't go higher than 14 or your game may crash lol.)
And I use Cyjon's Bigger Families mod for more than 8 Sims in the family. This way, it's easy to create custom-made apartments or dorms with lots of Sims on them.
I don't like to mess with the dorm zoning cheat, since it doesn't work for me, so, I just build a giant house, pretend it's a dorm, and move in a "family" of like 20 college sims. :) Works perfect.
There's always the risk of mods or cheats breaking your game, but, there are also so many fun mods for Sims 2 that add in features from other games. Loads 'O Laundry is one of my favorites which I think Rekowcski was referring to by mentioning a laundry room.

- Los infantes no me dan ternura. Son feuchos.

- Los sims que se llevan mal, se dan palizas todo el rato. Sí, ya me quedó claro que se llevan mal. ¿No pueden actuar como adultos o molestarse de una forma más elegante y digna?
- No puedo educar a mis hijos como en los sims 3 o 4 (que les puedo reñir o castigar).

¿Y qué decir de que no puedo poner más de una cosa en una mesa de apoyo y que tampoco las puedo poner en diagonal? Y la decoración es tan limitada...

Los sims 2 están bien para pasar el rato, pero para tramas medianamente profundas y montarme las tremendas historias me quedo con los sims 3 y 4. Por último, los mods hacen la fantasía, en los sims 2 ni eso.

As a long the sims 2 simmer all i could say is the sims 4 is a disgrace to the franchise.

I’d say you potentially forgot one major thing: the best thing about TS2 is the ability to play rotationally - something that’s not possible in the other games without extensive modding. I love playing a whole neighbourhood and seeing the storylines of the families interweave and change. Story progression is actually my least favourite feature of TS3 ( and now 4) and it didn’t work as intended anyway. Playing rotationally in TS2 allows you to leave one family and head over to the next - they’ll be right where you left them and you can carry on micromanaging their lives! I love it so much.

Honestly, worst thing is developers sign to EA and usually regret it very quickly. If it can’t be pumped full of DLC and micro transactions EA winds up throwing it away.

So many great games wound up killed off because EA is too greedy. They won’t even sell the rights to the franchises they shelved for good.

Grew up with Sims 2 and Sims 3. Sims 2 mostly pre teen and Sims 3 teen. Altho Sims 3 for me has a very special place in my heart, and I'd rate it as my favourite, what keeps me from playing it longer it's the awful 32bit system and limited ram memory usage. I love to play big families and have them do everything they can, with the Sims 3 the more you play the more you'll fill up the town with stories, relationships, Sims, etc. Eventually the game will become unable to save itself. There are fixes yes, but there's just so much that the mods can do. The 32 bit system ruins the game.
Although Sims 3 is filled with details and things to do, Sims 2 allows me no limits on my households, stories to be told and big families.
Sims 4 it's too boring for me. Doesn't matter how many expansion packs, stuff, wtv packs they bring. The ideas are good, but the Sims themselves are utterly boring. I've tried Sims 4 many times, but it fails so much. So many good expansions packs that are ruined by the lack of open world and dull Sims with no unique personalities. The emotions are pretty much horrible, they don't do anything to make the Sims relationships interesting.

Sims 4 is such a waste of good potential. They had everything at their disposal to make it better than ever, but they intentionally decided to make it worse in nearly every aspect.

I DO NOT want a new sims 4 expansion pack. I want my sims to not be complete idiots. And by god, it would be so much easier that my orchestrated actions (such as going to the toilet, or talking to someone, or ordering a drink) would be given first priority instead of the last 😩

While I prefer TS3's gameplay, I recognize the superiority of TS2. Maxis has never topped themselves since.

I didn't think the Sims 2 was that complex. This is awesome.

I miss the chaos of the Sims 2 and 3. The Sims 4 isn't a life simulator. It's a dollhouse where you have to control everything your sim does. I also want the Wishes system back from the Sims 3. I used to do entire playthroughs of the Sims 3 JUST fulfilling wishes and seeing where that got me, based on my sims' personalities. But the Sims 4 sims HAVE no personalities because emotions took over all that, and the whims/wants system sucks ass and all the sims have the same wants.

Sims 3 not like Sims 2 that make own world, so i play Sims 3 in 1 of 4 my choice neighborhood world (Sunset Valley, Twinbrook, Bridgeport & Starlight Shores, must only 5 families sims that i play {1 family is current i play, 4 families is later future plays, must in different save file for success saving files, reduce risk failed save} {plus few sims in 1 or more group household that as reference or what is says, just help something like become food cashier or cunning way to free learn recipe & not waste lot money/inaccessible buy recipe book [recipe Egypt, France & China] using interaction trade kitchen secret from a sim from reference household that i never play}). Sims 2 always i make own world like i make my own families sims (must 5 families per neighborhood, total 20 families in 4 different neighborhood like Sims 3 {different is 5 families sims that reach "the end" replaced with backup neighborhood so "reset" from beginning that make 5 next families sims but in Sims 3, replaced 1 family sims 1 by one [family 1 that live with family 2, 3, 4 & 5 untul reach "the end" so other save file, like neighborhood backup Sims 2, when play family 2, it live with family 3, 4, 5 & 6 then so on]}, so before i create family/household that i play, make backup neighborhood that i arrange it like that with 1 Ma'am become shover about angry cause spying neighbor). Put trait for my families sims in Sims 3 as much as possible following Sims 2 (outgoing personality Sims 2 so charismatic trait in Sims 3, popularity aspiration Sims 2 so friendly trait in Sims 3, playful personality Sims 2 so good sense of humor trait Sims 3, nice 4 point in Sims 2 so grumpy trait Sims 3, below 4 point nice Sims 2 so evil trait in Sims 3).

To be fair, a pile of dirt is more detailed, in depth, has more personality, and excitement then the sims 4...

I love Sims 3 and it is my favourite from the franchise but Sims 2 is the best. The little details, the introduction of the amazing storyline and the overall experience is the best.
