I know Craco from my childhood. I've been dreaming about this city for some time. However, it is no longer clearly visible. I no longer see towers and walls in my dreams. Just the surroundings. Just plain, smooth hills. I don't know what that means.

Realize? How the generation really passes like the wind. People once lived there, but they are no longer there. We don't know who they were or what their lifestyle was like only know them as the ancestors.

There was a tourkish invasion in Cyprus in 1974. Tourkey is still occuping for 49 years half of the country . None of the countrys sending today guns and help to Ukraine sent ever any guns or help to Cyprus to confront this tourkish inavasion. Food for thought.

Great video. It was obviously very beautiful in its prime. And surprised to see the animals found enough food and water there as it's so dry. It must have been a lot wetter in the area back when it was inhabited.

This information from wikipedia: Carco was abandoned due to land slides. The landslides seem to have been provoked by works of infrastructure, sewer and water systems.The abandonment made Craco a tourist attraction and a popular filming location. In 1972 a flood worsened the situation further, preventing a possible repopulation of the historic centre. After the 1980 Irpinia earthquake, the ancient site of Craco was completely abandoned. In 2010, Craco was included in the watch list of the World Monuments Fund.

Wonderful but needed to speak about the new town of Craco at the base of the mountain . The town of Craco still lives, not to mention those of us in New York the great grandchildren of the thousands of Craco people who came to America in the early 1900’s. Viva Craco !!!

Believe me, these ghost towns are beautiful. And one day into not so far future, when the US carnage goes on these villages will be occupied again, and people will be grateful to just have a shelter. The life of these places is not over yet. Thank you for this documentary. The tree in the Church is a symbol of hope of resurrection. ❤ Where donkeys are is life. ❤

Did you get authorisation to walk around the ruins and film? I thought these ruins were closed off and it's considered trespassing illegally if you don't go with a guide.
