In this video, you will join me along an exciting eurovelo 8 bikepacking trip as

...I woke up at 5am after hot night in bivy, feeling excited and nervous. I had planned to cycle 120 km from Pavia to Alessandria, following the EuroVelo 8 route along the Po river. I checked the weather forecast and saw that it was going to rain later in the day, so I decided to pack my things and leave as soon as possible.

The first part of the journey was smooth and scenic. I enjoyed the fresh air and the views of the countryside. I passed by some small villages and farms.

However, things started to get more challenging. There were a lot of road barriers and detours, due to some construction work and traffic jams. I had to navigate through gravel roads with rocks and trash.

I decided to take a break and look for a place to eat. I spotted a supermarket called Gulliver in Botarone. I checked the weather forecast again and saw that it was getting worse. There were thunderstorms predicted for the afternoon and evening.

I realized that I had to change my plans. I couldn't risk cycling in the rain and getting soaked or struck by lightning. I decided to book a room there for two nights, hoping that the weather would improve by then.

I had to leave the EuroVelo 8 and follow a secondary road that went inland. This meant that I had to face more hills and slopes. It was hard work, but I was determined to reach my destination.

I finally arrived in Alessandria around 7pm, just before it started to rain heavily. I was relieved and proud of myself. I had cycled 120 km in one day, overcoming many obstacles and challenges. I checked in at the hotel, took a shower and rested on the bed. I felt tired but satisfied.

Its july 2022 and I have decided to go on a bikepacking trip across europe with a six speed brompton loaded with camping gear. Not knowing what to expect I chose Eurovelo 8 Mediterranean Route as my first long distance bike route, that should lead me along the breezy Mediterranean sea.

I hope you come with me on this bikepacking journey through one of the most beautiful bike routes in europe.

Thank you for following my adventure!

Alexandria, Italy is a city in the Piedmont region, located at the confluence of the Tanaro and Bormida rivers. It was founded in 1168 by the towns of the Lombard League as a stronghold against the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick I. It became an important commercial and military center in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and was the site of several battles during the wars of Italian independence. Today, it is a modern city with a rich cultural heritage, featuring baroque architecture, a cathedral, museums, and a cemetery. Alexandria is also known for its gastronomy, especially its wine and cuisine influenced by the nearby regions of Liguria and Lombardy.
