Learning to Love Michael Bay's Transformers Movies

Good god, this has made me view the bay movies in a more disgusted way. I knew the erm... fan service, was over the top. But theres so much more cloak and dagger shit when you read into it that it makes me hate it. No wonder theres more deceptacons than autobots

Never been a fan of the "bayformers Optimus prime is evil the decepticons are the real good guys" because it always boils down to optimus is evil because he butchered the same decepticons that were vaporizing and running over humans a few seconds ago but this is surprisingly a good take that perfectly explain how the autobots are disfunctional, bloodlusted and imperialistic warmongering psychos and that bayformers humanity are quite literally the bastard spawns of space mecha Satan good job

Ya know, taking some cues from the Transformers: Prime series, they had the backstory element that when Megatron first started his uprising, he was a slave gladiator fighting a corrupt government with Optimus at his side, and it was only after millenia of conflict had eroded Megatron's morals in an attempt to win the fight that they separated and Optimus joined Team Government.
What if Bay!Megatron has similar elements, starting the fight for good reason, recruiting like minded rebels to oppose an unjust and cruel Cybertronian regime. And after millions of years of fighting has just stopped caring as much. You still see the glimmers from time to time, but the war has left him heavily broken inside.

There can be multiple different regions on the same planet why do you expect one part of Cybertron to look like another? Also the Fallen was the first Decepticon but the war was ended after his defeat and resumed when Megatron fell under his influence/tutelage.

I loved the first three movies as a kid, I watched them all the time. They had great special effects.

okay im at 15 mins in adn i already know that this guy doesn't know shit about cybertron as a planet
what we saw in the first movie was kaon the deception capital of Cybertron and the main war room, prison and many other key decepticoan resources, army, tech centers etc.
and we also saw the Sea of Rust a sea of molten energon or rust that in able to turn a transformer into a pile of nothing with in seconds like we saw in dark of the moon with sentinal rust gun
in dark of the moon we see the main battle fields of the war where most of the fighting happened which includes but not limited to
Iacon the autobot capital cybertron during the war but most commonly cybertrons capital due to it having the decagon a giant center that has the known history of the cybertronian race and many other key facilities where many things were invented.

the build sights for many ships, such as the ark and hundred of other ships that were used for the war and to escape cybertron.
many other unnamed citys which were all majorly destroyed to the war so that they aren't even reconisable to the survivors of the war and we never fin out there names on them

Dude, have you read the 400 page essay on the first three movies? It goes a lot more into Megatron's characterization (and the whole decepticon kids thing), but I think you and the author of that essay would agree on a lot. Fun video!

Transformers is such a beloved series to me even at a very young age I was a robot person. Of course I thought the movies had some great action but this interpretation of the event is so interesting because the lore and background of the autobot vs deception war is so dry and bare bones. While it cast the autobot( particularly Optimus prime) in a negative light I really like it for its complexity.

I love how within the last 3-5 years everyone has decided that the Autobots are, in fact, the bad guys in the entirety of the Transformers multiverse.

The parallels to American imperialism in this is astonishing, and people's immediate reaction being "propaganda! propaganda!" very telling. Which is ironic considering the Transformers movies were partly funded by the US government, had a Pentagon official revise their movie scripts, and more importantly, were allowed to borrow US military hardware on the condition that they depicted the US military in a positive way (aka real propaganda).

This was a good video but still I love the bayverse movies (mostly just the first 3) and still I think of them with the auto bots are good and even though over the top when killing deceptions I think it’s badass, and I just love Optimus prime and his outdo speeches. W autobots

I love how this essay made me switch from the thought that the Michael bay universe is one where robots meet humans so that they work together to save the alien robots and turned it into, actually it was always about the robots and their factions fighting for what they want and that the humans are just a thing that unicron spawned and that the humans have traits that resemble the evil world destroying unicron. Meaning the whole time, every time the decepticons tried to destroy the earth or damage it for cybertron was them saving the world from a world destroying demon robot and every time the autobots stop them is them saving this evil robot because they need it to fulfill their faction purpose. This is awesome, an amazing essay that changed the way I think of these films forever!
