Can diverticulitis be missed during a colonoscopy? If someone has a colonoscopy and is told their bowels are healthy, could they still have diverticulitis that wasn’t noticed during the procedure?
ОтветитьDoctors took my bladder out and it was diverticulosis the pains horrible I had a flare up for about a week
ОтветитьCan an diverticulitis attack cause lower back pain or spasms if you already have an underlying back problem?
ОтветитьMy wife said I thought stink bombs smelled bad but you're the new strength😂
Thanks for the video I have this thing and its awful.
Very informative. I'm unfortunately blessed with bad genes and diverticulitis runs in the family. It's occurred twice in a year and the docs are worried, so they're going in to remove part of the colon in a few weeks.
ОтветитьUse a pop filter when you speak.
ОтветитьI am dealing with something now (10 days of augmentin) and everything in the LLQ is good, but I have residual pain at the top of the descending colon. Previously I had lithotripsy that led to complications (twisted ureter) and I wonder if there is scar tissue complicating things. Exercise is a trigger.
Ответить😮
ОтветитьThe reason you get diverticulosis (before diverticulitis) is weakening of the bowel wall. Caused by either too strong constipation or too strong diarrhoea. So first up stay regular and moderate. Once you have it you have to avoid constipation at all cost as build up causes bacteria in the bowels. It all goes downhill from there. Find out what works for you by way of diet and drinks. Everyone is unique and their bodies react to different things. For me - I am lactose intolerant to NO LACTOSE or I flare up, I drink OLA VERA juice which has been a god send. Good luck to all of you.
ОтветитьI had a ct scan with contrast and it was clear but I'm still having this burning sensation in my left side lower abdomen.
ОтветитьI had it in the RUQ mainly but would flare up in the epigastric area. I was admitted due to drs thinking I had gallstones. CT revealed diverticulitis
ОтветитьI have diverticulitis but I was recently hospitalized for pancreatitis when i thought it was just my diverticulitis . They did a ct with contrast and told me i did have mild diverticulitis but the majority of my issues were being caused by pancreatitis. They still don't yet know why as I don't drink alcohol and never really was a heavy drinker .
ОтветитьWhich app do you use to make your videos?
ОтветитьOK, so this is interesting. Right sided abdominal pain is more likely in Asian populations. I've had it twice in the last year and both times the night before I had a soup that included dried shiitake mushrooms. Mushroom flesh is already difficult for us to break down but I think it's even more so when dehydrated. I wonder if the dried ingredients may be why we see it more in Asians.
ОтветитьI had to have my sigmoid colon removed due to diverticular disease resulting in a stoma. Thought that would be the end of it but oh no, still get severe bouts of diverticulitis. Sick of it all. Sick of constantly being on antibiotics.
I found this video highly informative.
Weird. Curse in the Old Testament of the Bible says your thigh will rot and your belly will swell! 🤔🤔🤔
ОтветитьGreat I have this, thank you for your help
ОтветитьI certainly hope someone is monitoring this channel, as I have a situation that even this video does not cover.
One week ago today (July 7, 2023) I went to the ER with severe low back pain on the right side. Everyone at the ER thought kidney stones with the level and location of my pain.
A CT scan showed all organs, including the kidneys, were normal with no sign of stones. However, the doctor told me the CT scan showed diverticula throughout the colon, with no evidence of diverticulitis, which he said is Diverticulosis. From every article and video like this out there, Diverticulosis does not involve pain, and it is found when looking for something else, such as during a colonoscopy.
1. So, first question, why do I have intense pain if I DO NOT have Diverticulitis?
2. Second question, why do I have pain on the RIGHT side, in my lower back, NOT my abdomen?
3. Third, this video is showing 4 quadrants of the ABDOMEN. I DO NOT have pain in my abdomen on either side, it is in my BACK on the RIGHT side. How does this fit into "Weird Symptoms"?
4. I do NOT fit any category for having this condition except being 60 years of age. I am very fit, have a great diet, active , 5' 9", 160lbs, resting heart rate of 54 to 56 bpm, blood pressure of 123 / 66, etc., etc.
5. Another symptom I DO HAVE, which no article or video has ever mentioned, is in the area where I have pain, my lower right back, the "love handle" area around to my back has been numb for 7 days. Sharp pain in that area, and totally numb.
So, please, has anyone at this channel, or reading these comments, ever seen or heard of this happening, where the only factor that "checks a box" for Diverticulosis is that I am 60 years old?
Excellent, thorough, and explicit.
ОтветитьThis is evidence that god does not exist because no supreme being would create such a flawed system! 😢
ОтветитьMy colon pain presents as back pain...,bad back pain!!
ОтветитьIS IT POSSIBLE to clean out the diverticulum and then Lazer it closed?
ОтветитьI’ve just had a colonoscopy that has confirmed diverticulitis and I’ve been suffering from symptoms like you describe with regard to it feeling like a UTI.
ОтветитьThank you so much for a very clear explanation and description of this problem.
ОтветитьThe best diet for diverticulitis before and after flares
ОтветитьI have it and a flare up is so painful that vision is blurred all teeth feel like they are being pulled out at the same time and sweat and chills and fever and it feels like it’s never going to stop but when it finally does stop you feel so exhausted you can barely move for hours. I literally thought that I was going to die the first time it happened. It’s also linked to stress. Never eat sesame seeds or other seeds.
ОтветитьGoing back to when my problem began 35 years ago, I wasn’t even close to heavy set (145-160 lbs at almost 5’10”), I was extremely active (second job in the evening was teaching country dance 4 nights a week), but I did smoke about 5 cigarettes a day (basically it was from being at the bar teaching dance), and I have ended up with pockets in all 4 “quadrants”. I have constant flare ups. I am “old school”, so I stay away from hard seeds, nuts, anything with a seed top like broccoli (I say “old school” because most of my doctors over the years say there is NO diet restriction now). I still get flare ups and we joke at the hospital that I am a “frequent flyer” and “have now paid for my wing.” Funny thing: My mother, same thing. 2 of my mothers sisters, same thing. My grandmother, same thing, while she was alive. One of my brothers, same thing (so bad he was put out of the military after 20 years of service). I 100% believe there is a hereditary link that they just aren’t studying.
ОтветитьAs someone who works outside, water is key to digestion and functions in the gut. Working outside you will need to drink more water than normal due to sweating. Summer is hell for me.
Ответитьany studies blaming lack of fiber for anything should be taken with a grain of salt.
ОтветитьAbdominal pain can often manifest as referred pain that can even be felt in areas like the testicles, because of how the nervous system is wired.
ОтветитьComes from eating vegetables. Thank a vegan who misled you. Eat meat.
ОтветитьHuh. I have IBS, but I also have Diverticulitius. I've had it since my early 20's. Thankfully I haven't had an attack since my late twenties (lots of fiber in my diet), but I have bloating and flatulence on a nearly daily basis. I always assumed it was IBS. It might be this instead!
ОтветитьI have all those symptoms except vomiting and leg pain, one thing I get that was not mentioned is I occasionally get bloody diarrhea, sometimes mild and sometimes severe
ОтветитьMade my bowel perforate and resulted in colostomy surgery
ОтветитьI had suffered from diverticulitis for a few years. The first 3 -4 years I was with a local hospital and doctors group. I would end up having a bad flare up and be admitted to the hospital for a few days until it resolved itself. Now, this was almost 20 years ago, and one day, after a particularly awful episode one of my doctors straight told me, "We're just country doctors out here. See something like this maybe once, twice a year." That very moment I decided I needed better medical support.
I joined an insurance group which allowed me to access University of Davis medical Center in Sacramento, Ca. Had another flare up, and thi time we had surgery. Opened me from breast bone to pubis, arcing around the belly button. Approx 6 centimeters of large intestine was removed. Had a very good year and a half after that. Yes, it did require a diet modification; for me it was small seeds was the culprit.
Well, a year and a half after surgery it hit again. And bad. Had an awful bowel obstruction. Surgeons went in again. Opened up along the same incision. I was told that I was open for over six hours; that, at one point my entire large intestine was outside of my body; the surgeon resolved things by excising nearly half my large intestine, from mid-line of the transverse colon to the anal vault, also because of scarification from the previous surgery I also lost approx. 75% of my liver.
Since then have not had anything other than bad stomach aches.
Can diverticulitis be missed, even with a CT with contrast? They were 99% sure that’s what I had, because of my symptoms, which have still not gotten better. I’m struggling every day, with every single possible symptom of it, but they said they couldn’t find anything. Colonoscopy will be next month, but curious if it could have been missed?
ОтветитьHow about chest pain with Diverticulitis?
ОтветитьJust had an attack few days ago. It felt like a mini bowling ball consistently being twisted with pressure in my lower left abdomen, then felt like it got lit on fire. I also had to urinate very often. I tried to ignore the pain but then I started to get the shivers. Did the hospital withheld pain meds to anyone else?
On an antibiotic now. I’m starting to have odd leg cramp which is how I found this (very well explained) video, and I hope the reasons behind the leg cramp isn’t the case :(
This was so very helpful. I’m having surgery next week and feel I have many of these symptoms that my doctor never mentioned.
ОтветитьThanks for the information. I recently got diagnosed with diverticulitis. This video is very helpful.
ОтветитьI find this helpful for l have a lot of flare ups with diverticulitis thank you ❤
ОтветитьHumm, I've had severe issues the last 5 years now. My doctor can't find what's wrong with me, and I got almost all of these symptoms. I get random inflammation flare ups, cand the only thing that brings down the swelling is Voltaren gel. I am also having a prostate infection right now, and I have been nauseous for a straight month. I guess i'm done for.
ОтветитьI think I should be checked for this but my experience of doctors is if you tell them"hey what about this?"They will not listen and if you tell them you learned from he internet they will absolutely deny the possibility. But Thx,might help me.
ОтветитьWhen my brother was 16 they thought he had appendicitis, but were skeptical as it looked fine in imaging. My mom pushed for the doctors to take it. They told her after he's opened up they will have to takenit wether its in bad shape or not. They took it out, and underneath was a huge pocket of infection on his intestines. He could have died if Mt mom didn't push for something to happen. He has had a few surgeries for the same since then.
ОтветитьI ended up having all the symptoms mentioned, became critically ill with a blocked bowel and was given a colostomy. Had major flare-ups for several years, but fine now.
ОтветитьIf u look like Brock Lesnar u might be prone to diverticulitis
ОтветитьHow does having a NG tube affect diverticulitis???
ОтветитьI had a colonoscopy and I was told that I had severe diverticulitis and yet I’ve hardly had any pain.
