My dad had Ambassador ❤
ОтветитьWith Mahindra buying Pininfarina and coning out with cars and Tata buying Jaguar and Land Rover, Indian Industry is now global in every sense. Almost all of the two wheeler classics giants of the world are with TVS, Mahindra now. BSA, Jawa, Royal Enfield and Norton.
Ответитьmy dad and grandfather both owned a maruti 800 as their first car
ОтветитьI have the original suzuki 800 from 1984
ОтветитьActually I'd take the Ambassador even today 😂, today all cars are made of plastic it seems.

ОтветитьI wish mahindra came to the USA.
ОтветитьThere is so much missing and incorrect in this video. I hope this episode will be remade/ updated in the future.
ОтветитьHM made .. Hindustan 10, hindustan40 , Hindustan , Landmaster ,BabyHindustan , Trekker , most of them Morris based cars ..
In Earlier days the popular Morris Minor were seviced by HM ,,
Great early history but not enough justice for recent industry. Nano failed and it's biggest reasons are technical issues it faced. we Indians wanted a durable and a reliable car which Nano wasn't and for 30-50% you could buy an Indica which was a huge hit. I think it deserved more attention here. Also Tata's SUV are hugely popular. First, it was Sumo and Safari competing with other cars like Mahindra Thar, Scorpio, Bolero, Maruti Gypsy, etc. and then came the big daddy Toyota with a bang via Qualis. It turned to be most popular car then and became super common but they decided to stop it and brought Innova for space conscious Indian customers.
Now we have a lot more companies and many native brands too.
I feel you should do a deep dive into Indian motorcycle and other automobiles which have their own interesting history later.
Mocking the Indian accent is racist.
ОтветитьSurprisingly there is no mention of the Standard Herald which also had a convertible model.
ОтветитьAh the good old British still talking about how India hasn’t made enough progress without them! Still sore about the subject of Gandhi having kicked them out with global glory… 😂
ОтветитьThe year was 1985 and i was a little kid. We lived in a non descript tiny town and a highway, the Delhi kolkata Highway, overlooked our bedroom window approximately 400 meters away and was clearly visible. One of my favorite activity during bored afternoons was to look up the highway and spot various types of vehicles.
One day in 1985, out of nowhere, we were amazed by a string of nifty cars going at a swift pace one after another for about 30 minutes. These were unlike anything we had seen. Looked so well made and so cute that i almost wanted to lift them. They donned colours which we had not seen, with a shine we had never seen, moved with a grace unheard and unimagined so far ... You get the idea.
And that was it. Then for days and days we waited for another such event and didn't see that car for a very very long time again.
That was the the Maruti 800, i found out years later. They were of a batch manufactured in Gurgaon and were transported to Kolkata market for the first time in a hurry. Later they switched to completely covered car transport trucks carrying the cars inside them. That is why we never saw any of those cars again. My own locality was too poor for anybody in the entire district to own any of those.
When i first saw those cars on road, i absolutely loved them. I also got to ride inside and it was fabulous. Much better than anything else i had boarded so far.
That car evokes extremely warm and fond memories in countless Indians like me. Unsurprisingly, our first car was also a Maruti, but not Maruti 800. We had outgrown it by then. We did have a lot of choice of car brands but a Maruti couldn't be ignored. When the customer desk called me asking what made us choose that model, i replied simply that i wanted only a Maruti car and nothing else.
Our second car is also a Maruti (now officially called Maruti Suzuki).
Both cars are still used everyday and we have nothing to complan.
Today
Maruti Suzuki is more valuable by market cap than its parent Suzuki .
And Tata motors is more valuable than Hyundai by market cap.
These speak a lot of the kind of growth automobile industry has witnessed.
Keep in mind its not easy buying a car in India. Thats why most people use Bikes and Scooters.
ОтветитьMahindra is already selling their Scorpio in Australi and it's well received, now they have launched a new scorpio passenger car and a family SUV and from what i heard it's also very well received and offeres a lot mor for the money. Actually in Australia Mahindra is seen as cheaper but very realiable alternative to Toyota ... i would have never thought an indian car would be associated with reliability xD Tata and Mahindra will push for other markets, especially the US market, Africa and South America. Mahindra now owns Pininfarina, due to which the Pininfarina battista was born, and Mahindra has a Formula E Team almost since a decade, new Mahindra models designed by Pininfarina and definity look like they are made for more developed markets. Tata as well is involved in Formula E with the Jaguar/TCS (Tata's consultancy company) team and is teaming up with volkswagen to make a electric car platform. So yea interesting times ahead. Also a lot of affordable electric bike and scooter brands are coming up now in india.
Ответить❤
ОтветитьNothing beats Honda Activa 😂
Ответить1945 ….
ОтветитьMy grandfather brought fiat Padmini during his college times and it was only car in town that time.....legend from our town still knows him because of our family old car😂
ОтветитьThe first car to be made in India was the **Hindustan Ambassador**, which started production in 1957. It was based on the British Morris Oxford series III model and became an iconic vehicle in India. However, the first car to be imported and driven on Indian roads was a **French De Dion-Bouton**, brought to India by a resident of Calcutta (now Kolkata) in 1897.
ОтветитьGive this motor to Raffle Gandi ,it was his grandfather’s favourite car.
ОтветитьDo Indian vehicles get rein car nated .????
ОтветитьThanks for the video
Ответитьtoday more indians own homes at london, UK... than english brits. also, currently india's GDP is higher than england. not to mention, england's (indian) PM, has $100M more than king charles - LOL!

ОтветитьWhat happened to the Morris Oxford
ОтветитьId like to see Mahindra sell trucks in America
ОтветитьI heard the TATA Nano was the car Indians would use to trade UP to a motorcycle
ОтветитьAll this talk, and nobody is saying anything about the fact that Mahindra kicked out Mahindra from Mahindra and Mahindra to form what is now known as Mahindra
Ответитьwhere is contessa
Ответитьreal sedans are rear wheel drives
ОтветитьWhen nano was launched. huge % of indians were becoming middle class.
Most indians parents stay with their children. So 4-5 people per home. Alto was perfectly suited for this market.
Tata was obsessed with retail price, they ovelooked the indian family mindset.
If nano had alto dimensions and sold it at 50k lesser price, it would ve worked.
Grab yourself with your European oppression bullshit.
ОтветитьHey he called sneaky indians
ОтветитьThe Ambassador is a pretty good looking car.
ОтветитьAw that sucks the Ambassador looks awesome and kept its style screw safety I want style lol.
