Best sounding CDs (my audiophile test discs) Vol.2

Great video again. Saw Supertramp in St Louis at the Keil 1985 great concert and musicianship. The album pressing of Crime of the Century is great and fuller then the CD version. Two other CD's you might want to listen to is Tim Bowman Sweet Sunday CD and Earl Klugh Midnight in San Juan. I was brought up in the 70's but have found many of the cd/albums of those groups are not as good sonically but I have found of the Jazz cd's better records. Thanks Dave

Ryo Fukui Live at Vidro '77 is a great new CD I've been playing a lot, you should check it out.

I've heard exceptional sound from recordings made on many different types of equipment, so I no longer pay much attention to the chain. One of my favorites sonically and performance-wise is Los Lobos Kiko on CD from 1992 (there is an SACD version also). It's not the only great sounding recording I've heard with a Mitchell Froom production credit (The Corrs' Home CD is gorgeous as well). The SPARS code says ADD and the mastering is by Bob Ludwig. WB gave the band a lot of creative freedom on that album and it certainly comes out in the finished work!

Well, I just saw the previous video and I wrote to you about my great surprise when I discovered your channel, so I immediately followed you and came to find the second part of 10 CDs that on this occasion I only have the Supertramp one but not in that edition, I have Breakfast in America on Blueray audio and it sounds incredible. so now my recommendation would be the most recent album by Peter Gabriel (i/o) in the blueray audio version that also comes with two CDs each with its respective mix, let's see what you think. Copyright is easy to avoid but a lot of these self-designated audiophile channels don’t know the rules

MFSL gets a bad wrap from some audiophiles as snake oil, however, they have put out some absolutely stellar CDs, especially in the mastering arena, which is where it really counts. My go to for the absolute best sounding CD that I own is ELP Trilogy from Mobile Fidelity sound labs put out around the mid 90s, it is just a stellar CD from start to finish well mastered well produced nice packaging, well worth the money if you can find it in my opinion.

I wish to see more videos like that. Certainly people should have a possibility to discover more names and a high quality recording. I prefer SACD though.

Except to me the one where there was sooo much mouth sounds on sax sounded like s big mistake someone decided would be cool:) if you wana hear great sax get world saxophone quartet. I have their one with african drums. Also..play ghosts by Albert ayler. Albert is there with you giving you chills.

How do CDs sound better than a high bitrate stream or download? Shocking reveal...they don't. 😯 Physical media only makes sense for storing analog data. Why would I want a CD if I can get better results with newer codecs/standards? The world of hi-fi is full of gimmicks but you know the saying, a fool and his money.

Terrific selection- always refreshing when people hi-light the less obvious "go to" discs such as Dark Side of the Moon, Steely Dan etc- yes they are good but that particular furrow has been ploughed endlessly. Great to get "new" recommendations.
One area a lot of people overlook are the 24 Bit Remastered discs (along with 20 Bit & 22 Bit and 32 Bit!) These are easy to source used and new and many sound fantastic without breaking the bank.
One particular disc and track I will recommend is a 32Bit Remaster of "Rescued The Best of Fontella Bass" and the track is her massive 1965 hit "Rescue Me" It sounds exceptional. 1997 release on CHESS 329 335-2 / CHESS MCD 09335 Legendary Masters Series. 3 panel digipack with 12 page booklet. Other discs in the series are just as good sonically too.

It would be interesting to see what would be the equivalent in different genres of music.

I was first introduced to James Newton Howard when I purchased the CD " Promised Land". (1987 drama film written and directed by Michael Hoffman and starring Kiefer Sutherland and Meg Ryan) Great soundtrack if you can still find it.

I want to recomended you a spanish artist, her music blown my mind away. She is Rita Payés & Elisabeth Roma, the album called Como La Piel (released 2021). The music its of Genre: Jazz, Folk, World, & Country, her Style: Catalan Music, Bossa Nova, Fado, Flamenco, Latin Jazz

Oh great,, another elevator music best of,, it seems all audiophiles do is sit in room alone and listen to Jazz on their ridiculously Overpriced equipment,, I think Jazz is cool,, sometimes, But C’mon,, The Talking Heads, Rage Against the Machine,, and just about everything from Radiohead and Daft Punk are great audiophile cd’s that won’t put you to sleep

Using music to enjoy your equipment ... instead of the other way around ... doesn't make sense to me.

Guessing we should stay away from Crime Of The Century "Remastered" edition?
