Nice, pleasant, understandable review! My wife got a Willys 4xe 6 weeks ago, paying a "mere" 62+k for an inferior vehicle (after 3 Wrangler Rubicons). THIS time, we got the extended warranty at the dealership because her 3 previous Wrangler Rubicons have had so many expensive electrical and some mechanical problems. Jeeps are great off-roaders. Almost peerless. And that's about it. Apples and oranges, I know, but my 2023 Honda CRV Sport Touring hybrid is superior in all but its AWD capabilities and non-off roading "handicap." My Honda was 22k less for an infinitely quieter, more comfortable, refined, and better engineered vehicle...but that's Honda vs Jeep. It's slower 0-60, but not off the line...the hybrid has great torque off the line and getting into traffic. I watched a video last week by a mechanic/engineer who demonstrated why the incredibly complex and illogical engineering Jeep has built into its systems just for cooling those high voltage batteries, are all likely to be down-the-road ticking timebombs. My wife just finished a long highway trip visiting her grandkids 1500 miles away, and averaged 17 mpg on gas, worse than her previous Rubicons, because she had no way to charge up her .47cd heavy cinderblock. These are cult cars, which--despite great resale value--are absurdly overpriced. What the mechanic/engineer summarized in his excellent, long video was that IF you are buying big Wranglers because they look so cool, and you like waving to other cultists, but you're not really an off-roader-DON'T DO IT. And if you think the 4xe is going to justify the absurd sticker by improved efficiency, DON'T DO IT. I would have preferred my wife had gotten a far more reliable (though no rock-crawler, the only off-roading we do is one week on OBX beaches) Subaru Outback Wilderness. But she pays for her car, and can't seem to live without the detachable hardtop roof, so there's no obnoxious veto from hubby. :D 62+k!!!! Even if it were a quality engineered vehicle (for something other than off-roading), that would STILL be over the top pricing. And, yes, she drove me to work in a Buffalo blizzard a few years ago when all I had was my FWD Accord, so that was a major nicety and, yes, it IS fun being able to drive onto the beaches of Ocracoke Island...so it ain't ALL bad, true enough.

The home chargers, especially on PHEV’S are a waist of $. Evan if twice a week you run an errand after work or on a dead battery you won’t make the cost of the level 2 charger up with gas savings.

I don't really care how much it can travel on a single battery charge. I don't plan to charge it at all. The most important thing for me is the ability to use braking energy for a future start. This is very important in the city. Although, to be honest, the whole road from home to the office and back, in my case less than 24 miles) And electricity in my country is not as expensive as yours. And I could not spend money on the road at all. It makes sense to think.

I have solar panels that are paid for so charging is free and the 27 mile average charge takes me to work and back, it makes great because I fuel once every two months. Awesome video thanks for the information master chief. Noticed your Navy shadow box on the wall 😊 thank you for your service.

My husband and I just purchased a Jeep Wrangler 4xe and are learning all we can about it. Your video is very helpful. Thank your for the charging tips and the So Cal Edison EV program. We can't believe gas prices are reaching $7/ gallon! Outrageous.

Can't wait for them to come to Australia when I do another 1,600 km (994 miles) trip through the desert without fuel or supplies.
Looks like I will be saving the planet by staying home..

Charging during 3-9pm (peak hours), you’re paying 6.51 for the 24 all electric range (unless you’re in cold weather, where it’s less). Gas mpg is about 26 combined.
All much better than a regular Wrangler. Still a ways to go to match other PHEV offerings…but they don’t look like a Jeep.

Sorry Dude

No one serious about off road driving buys a Wrangler hybrid!

Particularly those who understand the US has no substantive ‘green’ energy production capacity - and won’t have for years

BTW, Germany is burning lignite coal. Lignite contains 25%–35% carbon and has the lowest energy content of all coal ranks

Global climate change is a GLOBAL problem

What’s the point??

My Sahara is only a couple hundred pounds lighter, and I got 30 mpg on a 120 mile trip yesterday with gas only (esave mode) I'll take that. Of course this is with keeping your foot from getting frisky. At 73 my foot has calmed down. If you need the nut... it is there, like passing on curvy roads. It bolts like a hemi.

Economical? The price of this thing is not economical, with the minimum savings of electricity price vs gas, this is just stupid. I stick to my gas powered wrangler
