This song especially hits so much different after getting out of an emotionally abusive relationship. He put me on the highest pedestal to be someone I wasn’t emotionally ready to be, wanted to see if I was good ‘mother’ material, and so many other things. He loved comparing me to my own abuser and dismissed me being emotionally neglected growing up, belittled my OCD, agoraphobia and death anxiety by telling me to get over it, called me so many insulting names in the name of ‘tough love,’ made me feel bad about my interests and how I entertained myself with pop culture, and overall never made me feel good enough for him because I wasn’t ‘fun’ enough and wasn’t trying to ‘change,’ despite me working on myself by doing shadow inner work, going to therapy, and allowing myself to slowly start hanging out with my friends again. Sometimes, I can’t be happy OR able to function because I become crippled by a disorder I sometimes have no control over, and I shouldn’t have to be shamed or belittled about it!
