The best oil to use is the one you will use frequently or at least on the service intervals.
ОтветитьSo in an application where there is no pressurized circulation from a pump and a filter - say in a rear end / differential full synthetic is superior.
But when there is a pump and the oil circulates and eventually passes through a filter a synthetic blend is superior because it can suspend particles (combustion by-products like carbon, wear items like small metal particles, even dirt, etc.) and carry them suspended in the oil until it passes through the filter medium and is caught.
Full synthetic oils do not do as good a job suspending particles so the abrasive particles end up dropping out and gunking up the lower areas where oil is present rather than being filtered.
So you're saying don't use synthetic oil on a street bike.
ОтветитьIn a synthetic blend what are the ratios??
It could be 10% synthetic 90% mineral.
They don't put that on the bottle so you don't really know
I have a 1971 Honda CB175. Should I use synthetic in that?
Ответитьi use 10w-40 MOTUL 100% Synthetic for my 2004 kawasaki 636
ОтветитьWhitch is better oil 20w50 or 10w40? Am in middle east and in summer it goes to 25 degree C.....
Ответитьiirc ester is corrosive so they put "little" ester and marketing as group V
in modern engine oil whatever dino, vhvi, poa, ester what matter most is the additive how oil manufacture combine antiwear, antioxidant, detergent . friction modifier etc that one will protect ur engine
when the additive gone oil just lubricant like 5 decade ago
check Used oil analysis and share to other so everyone can learn from how long this engine oil last in this engine
Is it true that fully synthetic oil can save you a lot of gas
ОтветитьI use the used oil from my car… let it set for a month or two then slowly add until it starts changing color. Same deal I then use in my 1951 Chevy truck. Like I always reuse ATF and gear oil too reuse for machine and hydraulic oil after sitting for at least 3 months. No problems in over 50 years. What brand etc? Bought a bunch 24 (30 gal.) barrels of Kendall GT in the late sixties for a real deal.. that broken down it was 20 cents a qt. Or a $24 a barrel. Still have all the used oil in the used barrels… so maybe it could be refined into new oil… though Kendall is long out of business… probably got enough new to get me to 100 years old. So not worrying about needing to refine / recycle into new right now.
