Hardcore Sony A7IV FIELD TEST Review! Worth it or Not?

Always love your reviews, especially on sonny, am trying to move away from Canon as many things I need my Canon camera is not giving me. Do you have a sony I can have? Maybe an your old a7III

I have decided I will upgrade my a7iii. Most of lenses are primes: 20,28,35,55 & 85. All f1.8/2. My one zoom is the 70/200 f4 which I use quite a lot. Any thoughts on the worth of trading up to the new 28ii version to go with the a7iv?

I did it I bought it as my first big girl camera. When I started my photography program 2.5 yrs ago, I bought a used Sony A6500, which I outgrew. It was time to upgrade so I chose this A7 IV. It's still a bit of a learning curved but so far so good. This semester I had to take a video class for my degree. I'm so happy this camera will serve my needs. 😁📸🎥📝🏫❤

No comparison with the A7R IV ?

I agree with the crop on the 4K 60. However, when I record with this camera, I 30FPS in 4K, or I would just go with 1080p 120. Doesn’t bother me much.

nice review. I am upset with z6ii AF (even V1.4 latest upgrade) for street photo, wedding videos,... I never rely on AF eye detetcion. I think about switching to that a7m4. some other advantages : tactile screen, focus color zone map, protects sensor during lens change.

Would you recommend the a7iv over the canon r6 for video? What prime lenses would you recommend for documentary work short stories & vlogs

Raw files uncompressed give just 6 fps raw which isn't not good at all ,as well overheating it's seconds big issues.

Financially I am going with the A7iii since I am a highschool photographer mainly doing sports, but the A7iv is super sick. I would love to have that camera instead but I believe the A7iii will be amazing aswell.

I just got mine a few days ago. It is a noticeable upgrade over the a7iii (which is still a great camera). I can't wait to take it out even more once the weather improves.

Waited for two minutes forty seconds just for you to tell about the flip screen as the first thing.
You highlighted some specs about the a7iv with no footage between a1 or a7siii, even though you compared them a lot.
Didn’t feel like this hardcore field test at all otherwise described in the title.
I like your way of filming and the street photographs you got out of the a7iv, but this was not a serious review.
I hope you don’t take it as hate but rather constructive criticism. Maybe I just expected more when I clicked on your promising title.

what about buying sony E16-55 2.8(CROP) and using this on a7iv using only crop mode?any suggestion.

Fujifilm user here. How would it be for birding/wildlife? I don't think I need 30fps of the A1 and definitely can't afford an A1.

Those were only jpegs. The ISO performance of the camera actually is worst than a7III. Half a stop worst. I have it and it's a really good camera, but ISO is not it's best quality.

The improvement in autofocus and the flip screen are enough to make me upgrade from the 7iii

Hi, congratulations for the very interesting video. I'd like to ask you a question. For me the stabilization of a camera is very important because I make all my documentaries around the world freehand, without tripods and without stadyshot. If I had to buy the Sony A7 IV and the Sony FE 24-105mm f / 4 G OSS, could the two stabilizations, both of the camera and that of the lens, work together and in synergy? Do you think the Sony A7 IV with Sony FE 24-105mm f / 4 G OSS might be the right camera for me or is it better that I look to another camera with better stabilization? Thank you very much

Does any one know how to input A74 ARW file into Lightroom? Even the adobe dng converter can't convert A74's raw file to DNG!!!!!!!Plz don't tell me that I just need to wait till Lightroom update

So tempting, but if I upgrade from my A7III, I may as well to upgrade from the MkI 70-200mm G Master to the MkII as well.
